Title: For the Sake of Argument
Fandom: X-Men, post-Mutant X and pre-M-day... or something like that. Mentions events and people from before that point.
Author's notes: Found this in an old notebook and figured I'd post it. Feel free to ask me about my headcanon for Hank's relationships, because trust me, I have lots to say.
Summary: A conversation between two old friends about past relationships prompts Northstar to make a move.

Conversations in or near a team are never private. )

Title: Nihon No-go
Fandom: X-men, pre-M-day
Author's Notes: Okay, so the title makes more sense if you know that in the Japanese language, the language itself is called Nihon go. Puns awaaaaaaaay!

Alex pov again, I'm not sure why I keep doing that... )
eliyes: (I have a point)
I have no problem with Northstar marrying his boyfriend; they're a cute couple, and comics need to stop trying to keep everyone in this relationship limbo thing.

What I want to know is why the hell are they getting married in New York?! They're both Canadian citizens! Same-sex marriage has been legal in Canada since 2005! Why not get married there, avoiding the red tape of having your wedding in another country -- always a pain in the ass. They can have a post-wedding party in New York if for some reason a bunch of the guests couldn't go to Canada -- have the X-Men moved back to NY, even? I thought they were still based off the West Coast?

Title: Kith
Summary: Prior to M-day, a huge number of people were collecting in Westchester -- and relationships among mutants and their kin are like an enormously tangled 4D web. There were a lot of stories that could have been told, but weren't. Here is a piece of one of them.

So, picked up a copy of Wolverine and the X-Men #01 at my FLCS today.

The Jean Grey School For Higher Learning.

Logan and Kitty are the headmasters.

Bachalo is drawing.

....I may have to pick up this series.

A million (read: three and a half) years ago, I promised [livejournal.com profile] hybridhelen I would do a continuation of this. And then I got hit with the work schedule of I-swear-my-boss-knows-just-how-to-ruin-my-fun (see also: any time I make plans to play a tabletop rpg, watch an anime marathon, do laundry, etc.).

Well, I never claimed I was fast. (That's JP's strong suit.)

So here goes: Back at my place, out of those wet clothes... )

Title: Loose Lips Sink Ships
Timing: Before M-Day, shortly after Jean's death. If that's the wrong order, pretend it's not. *has no idea*
Author's notes: I am tired of this particular terminology popping up everywhere.
Featuring: Some of the new X-men (students at the time) and one of the old ones.

Hellion was already talking as he and Anole walked into the rec room )

Title: Fealty
Characters: Iceman, Northstar, Nightcrawler
Summary: Followers make their leaders, sometimes more literally than others.

Bitty ficlet under the cut )
eliyes: (Ice-Man)
So, who was that Gambit was talking to down in the Genoshan holding cells? I didn't catch the end of the episode (if we were shown) but by voice -- and especially the way he said "Wanda?" -- my money's on Quicksilver.

(Third episode of Wolverine and the X-Men I've ever caught part of! To my great disappointment, no one sang doo wop!)

Title: Sleeping With Bobby
Warnings: Involves discussion of canonical sexual assault.
Summary: Mystique-eye-view on getting under Bobby's skin, with BONUS dealing with some issues that really should have been dealt with in the comics.

This is how we break the walls down. )

This is a little drabble set before M-Day, some short time after the wedding kerfuffle, and written primarily because I like to think Alex gained some wisdom from his time in the Mutant X universe.

Jean-Paul's making comparisons. Alex is just being helpful. )

Braddocks

eliyes: (What a coincidence!)
This is something I never realised for myself, but which seemed SO OBVIOUS once it was pointed out to me that it kinda blew me away.

Elizabeth Braddock (Psylocke) shows a marked tendancy to be attracted to guys who strongly resemble her twin brother, Brian.

Exhibit A: Douglas Ramsey
He looked like Brian at that same age, right down to how he combed his hair (though his face was usually drawn as shorter). Another thing they had in common: Brian was a dedicated tinkerer of machinery; Doug was a talented hacker.

Exhibit B: Warren Worthington III
When Betsy started dating Warren, he had his hair grown out maybe an inch longer than her brother's. Tall, blond, rich, depressed and unstable... The two men had a lot in common at the time.

Disturbingly, both of these romances happened after a version of Brian from another reality tried to rape her. He didn't succeed; she killed him with her powers.

The cycle was finally, finally broken when she fell for Neal Shaara... or was it? Sure, he doesn't look like Brian, but he's a handsome, arrogant man from a wealthy family, he attended university in England -- not the same one as Brian -- and got a degree in physics -- like Brian.

Title: Johnny Thunder lives on water, feeds on lightning
Fandom: X-Men comics, real world figure skating
Warnings: mild swearing, Olympic spoilers
Author's notes: Title is lyrics from the song Johnny Thunder by The Kinks. This fic is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore, by far the most vocal of the Johnny Weir fans on my f-list. ;3

Summary: Bobby has something to say about the men's figure skating outcomes. )
eliyes: (bed & breakfast)
Title: Nothing Owing
Timing: San Fran-ish, but ignoring whatever's happening in the books.
Summary: Bobby looks after a sick friend, with a little help.
Author's note: Never has this icon been more appropriate. This is payback for the random Bobby-whumping I did in Not Coming For The Kill, but is unrelated to that story/AU.

Warren isn't feeling well, so I figured I'd pamper him some. )

Title: Tough Love
Summary: After the mess with Mystique (in the last issue, especially, of Manifest Destiny), some of Bobby's teammates decide that an intervention is in order, but get more than they bargained for.

Face it: you've got a thing for reformed bad girls. )

Title: William Shatner
Characters: Iceman, Angel, and Beast

Comment and I'll give you three fandoms, for which you must answer these:

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] a_trill gave me Star Trek, X-Men, and Stargate.

Title: Not Coming for the Kill
Characters: primarily Angel and Iceman, others
Warning: This one hurts. Not set in continuity -- I guess I just needed to write someone hurting at the time.

Title: Spin Doctored
Fandom: X-Men
Characters: Scott, Warren, Bobby, Hank
Rating: Gen
Summary: Extrapolating from Scott's reaction to Hank letting the news blat about that he's gay, but bringing some actual *gasp* continuity into the mix.

Scott threw the newspaper down in disgust )

"No clowning around, Bobby! Our danger-room testing is serious business!" -- Scott Summers

In X-Men #40, "THE MARK of the MONSTER!".

Hank called Bobby: "my frigid little friend", "son", "my non-cognizant compeer", "lad" (twice)

Bobby called Hank: "Beastie" (thrice), "my boastful buddy", "ol' Hank"

Hank called himself: "the bounding Beast", "the gazelle-like Beast", "an unexpectedly rebounding Beast"

Bobby called himself: "this fresh-frozen, hot-headed X-Man"

And Professor X is really, really bad at remembering to call the kiddies by their code names. For realz.

"Who's clowning?" -- Hank McCoy
eliyes: (bed & breakfast)
From The New Defenders #151:

Hank: C'mon, Bobby -- So the girl you were sweet on turned out to be a stellar nebula forty times the size of the solar system! It could have been worse!

Bobby: Oh, yeah? How?

Hank: She could have been married!

This is a fic rec post. :D I'm usually leery of the Pit unless I'm given a specific rec, but I put on my hipwaders and got out my hunting cats and found me some fancy picks from the voles.

They are all X-Men stories, from various continuities and time periods. Most are Iceman-centric, but not all. eta: None of these are porn! :D

The Shape of Water is a story about Rogue talking to Bobby about his secondary mutation. It has some interesting imagery and some discussion of the Iliad, and that's probably the major contributing factor to me reccing it.

Snow People features the original five X-Men, and is set shortly after Jean's arrival. It has an interesting little twist. ;3

Superhero is a Northstar-centric character piece with situational illustration. I'm describing it badly. IT'S REALLY GOOD, my favourite story by this author, and the chapters are short. It takes place during his time with the X-Men.

Morning is a 1602 story by an author who felt that the friendship between Werner and Roberto Trefusis (Angel and Iceman) was not sufficiently addressed in the books. This story takes place after the death of a character and thus should not be read by anyone not wanting to be spoiled for the story.

babysat is a Hank & Bobby friendship fic that takes place during the first run in X-Factor, after Bobby's powers have been amped by Loki and Beast has been whammied by Pestilence. The timing is a little wonky (Hank's intelligence should not have deteriorated that much before Bobby has the inhibitor belt) but the sentiment is 100% awesome (and the Star Wars obsession is, alas, spot on).

Things Not To Do At Xavier's is the token Evo fic in this list, but it's... incredibly long. It's not actually a fic, per se: Xavier has posted a list of rules, and various people (including bad guys) have written comments on the list. I laughed out loud a lot while reading this, but it is essentially a list with talking heads, and it's very silly, so take that into account when deciding if you want to read it. Spoilers for the entire X-Men: Evolution series.

Th-th-that's all folks! (Although if you want to rec something to me in the comments, OH HEY FEEL FREE, MAN! 8D ...Please nothing featuring getting drunk or taking drugs or spanking in any form. *scarred by The Pit*)

Title: Maple Syrup and Backstory
Rating: G, or maybe PG-13 for Jean-Paul crushing on Bobby, I guess.
Author's notes: I've been wanting to do something with maple syrup and something with the various experiences the X-Men have had with Marvel!Norse. I'm not sure this entirely satisfied the urge.

I dreamt about you last night, Jean-Paul )
