I think Gibbs' theme song for most of (Un)Covered is "You Love Me To Hate You" by KISS --

-- right up until that record scratch moment when DiNozzo makes it plain that, NO, they aren't on the same page at ALL, really...

(Except in a backwards sort of way where she does do things to piss him off on purpose in order to amuse him, but unlike the girl in the song, she doesn't think she's getting anywhere or has a chance and furthermore, being DiNozzo, just desperately wants Gibbs' love and approval.)

Watched RED. Enjoyed it; nice light psychotic paranoid action flick. I was expecting Karl Urban to have a smaller role, so that was a nice surprise.

It did get me thinking about the CIA, fannishly.

NCIS + CIA = not a happy combo for Gibbs' team, I'm guessing. I bet Gibbs and Fornell gang up on 'em, when they can.

SGA + CIA = plotbunnies for Rodney, who, after all, worked for the CIA as a teenager/before the USAF. (I kind of suspect Vegas!Rodney still does?) I have a vague idea kernal for something about Rodney recognising that someone is a CIA agent, either from just how they behave, or from actually having done some analyst work for them when he was in. I doubt the field agents always know who did their background work, after all. And then, of course, there's the idea that Rodney was actually inserted into the SGC hierarchy by the CIA, possibly by Trust agents therein, and has been undercover THIS WHOLE TIME. (I think I may have read that?) This is mostly born of my enjoyment of both his ability to get Elizabeth to lie extravagantly, and the hot way he takes charge sometimes (like in Epiphany -- s'only think I like about that episode, really).

And of course, there are actually CIA characters in SotT. Well, there's one. She's a lovely old harridan, too. Not that SotT bears any resemblance to how the intelligence agencies and underworld communities of the real world actually work. ...Although I'd love to see Team Templar square off with Team Gibbs. In the field, I think they might have the advantage, but in if the NCISers have their HQ back-up i.e. Abby, Ducky, and Palmer, the tables turn. I can see Fornell taking bets on this...

Of course, maybe Ducky knows Ethan. Or maybe Team Gibbs (when Tony was in charge, to make it worse?) had to deal with Team Templar and Simon uttered one of his "poncy English bastard" slams -- which would bother Ducky less, depending, since he's Scottish... but remember, Tony's late mother was English. (How worse? If he was team leader, McGee and Ziva are way more like to get their backs up in his defense.) Hell, maybe Tony ran unto Jeremy at his rich uncle's funeral in England or something. Tall, dark-haired, cocky, ex-football player, kind-of-a-juvenile-asshole federal agent... just his type! XD

Unrequited Brad Pitt/Tony DiNozzo! eta: Actually, it works as gen. It can just be admiration and not lust -- see below.

No, not the actor. If you're an NCIS fan, you know I mean the doctor who treated Tony for the plague and who ALSO played against him in the football game where Tony sustained the injury that scuttled his sports career.

I want Brad POV starting before that game. I want him impressed as hell by Tony as a peer-and-rival, and looking forward to meeting him on the field of battle. I want him woobily horrified at being a party to ruining Tony's chances at making it pro. I want details of the game! I want Brad eyeballing the medics because oh god they'd better do it right. I want him, as a pre-med student, to have a friend working in the hospital who gets him in to see Tony -- but he chickens out at the last minute.

And then, years later, he is surprised to have Tony as a patient. He hasn't been stalking him after all -- he didn't know he'd gone into law enforcement, much less joined NCIS -- but he remembers him, oh yes. (Remember, it was Brad who brought up the game and gave Tony a copy of a recording he had. It makes sense that Brad would have mementoes of a great victory for his team, of course -- but he recognised Tony!)

I want to read this. Caring!Dr. Pitt.

I suspect I'll have to write it myself. *sigh*

Gibbs and Ducky disappeared on their way to a conference -- just vanished from the plane. Meanwhile Jimmy took up skateboarding down on the boardwalk, which wa sunfortunate, as he went flying into the water. :/ And terrorists tried to kill me and Tony by throwing knives at us through windows. Paula Cassidy AND Kate Todd were there. I didn't see Abby, but I did collect the knives to see if she could get the guys' fingerprints.

Soooo... I was watching "Building the Team", which is a special feature on the NCIS 1st season DVDs, and at the end of it Don Bellisario comments,

"I'm met a lot of real NCIS agents. The women are -- pretty. Uh, I am surprised at how pretty these agents are! Are lot of 'em are married! A lot of 'em are married to each other. It -- it's an interesting dynamic."

So, leaving aside possible implications of lesbian marriages among NCIS agents... ;3 I've seen a number of NCIS fanfics where there are agency regulations against fraternization between agents, but the only thing in the show to support it is Gibbs' Rule #12, which I am really willing to bet he came up with after his relationship with Jenny. Gibbs would not need a rule for this if there was already a rule against it within the agency itself, nor would we see so many characters having romantic/sexual relationsips with no more consequence that teasing from their coworkers and possibly heartbreak (Gibbs & Jenny, McGee & Abby, Palmer & Lee), or so much flirtation between agents (Tony and pretty much everyone he interacts with, Ducky and most of the female cast).

It's nice to know that the sexual chemistry and romantic possibilities are not just something added to make the show more compelling.

It also puts a richer layer in the interpretation of Tony's pursuit of Paula Cassidy, at least to me.

Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

[livejournal.com profile] a_trill gave me:

1. Iceman Probably one of my favourite comic book characters. I like the dichotomy of his ice powers and form with his hothead and warm heart. And I like that he's the class clown without being mean about it. Every class clown I ever met was a bully; Bobby isn't. He would do anything for his friends.

2. NCIS I like cop shows. NCIS is an awesome and generally well-written example of the genre. I like most of the ensemble cast.

3. Aurion I like genderswap. And, as I said above, I like Iceman -- Aurion is a published genderswapped version of Iceman! And she's adorable, and more confident in her powers than the adult male version is these days.

4. Star Trek Baby's First Fandom. I was raised by Trekkies. I met my best friend because of Star Trek. I'm currently in an active fannish phase, but even when I'm not, Star Trek is entwined with my grey matter. I could wax philosophic about Roddenbury's vision here, but I shan't. ;3

5. Boostle Two superheroes I might not like nearly as much apart, but who just go great together.

The first actual episode of NCIS is basically about how Gibbs hired Kate. As the series goes on, we see him hire McGee and Ziva. We know that Abby is like a daughter to him, that Ducky is like a brother. Gibbs makes his team.

But we don't know how Tony got there.

In an early episode, Kate actually asks him directly, "How did you get into NCIS?" and Tony answers, "I smiled."

In another early episode, there's this exchange:

Tony: I didn't become an NCIS agent yesterday Kate. As a matter of fact tomorrow...
Gibbs: ...is going to be two years.
Tony: That's kind of touching Gibbs. Remembering the day you hired me.
Gibbs: Yeah, well it seemed like a good idea at the time.

So, Gibbs obviously picked Tony up like he does his other agents. Tony was working with the Baltimore PD at the time. This is the extent of our canonical knowledge.

Naturally, I went looking for fic. Most of what I found was crap. Like, really crap. Not even just the stuff that threw them into bed.

Then I found Rictus, and now I never need to look for a story about this particular thing again. It's long, it's a case story, it has emphasis on the emotions and building of connections tied up in this first meeting, and I love it. But the first two paragraphs slap you in the face with how ugly this case will be, and if you can't deal with them, you won't survive this fic. If you can deal, it's totally worth every word.

Cue choking on air when a certain guard first appears on screen.

me: HOLY SHIT, is that CASH? *furious IMDBing* Yes! Channon Roe! ZOMG Vampires! :D

(For those of you getting utterly lost, Cash is the character Channon played in Kindred: The Embraced. He was the Gangrel Prince! Baby's first exposure to Vampire: the Masquerade!)

eta: BWAH! McGee graduated with one of the female guards, and she's squealed his name and did a run-jump-hug. XD

The problem with trying to watch anything at work is that I always seem to get interrupted right at the dramatic climax of whatever I'm watching. Take NCIS for example: I watched the episodes "Chained" and "Boxed In" at work, and in both cases, ten minutes before the end, I get called away to do work things. Which, being at work, I have to do. It's just a little frustrating. X3

Speaking of NCIS, apparently it's getting a spin-off! Yeah, in February there's going to be an episode which will introduce the cast of a new series, much the same way NCIS was spun-off from JAG. Here's hoping it doesn't tank like First Monday did. From what little information has been leaked, it sounds a little like "What if The Pretender had worked for the Man?"

So, for the edification of any and all, I share this link: it's a list of crossover fic between SG-1 and/or SGA, and NCIS. Note that's it's not a list of recs, just an index of all the available such fic found by the lister.

rookie: How's Gibbs to work for?
Tony: What've you heard? That -- bad guys would rather confess than be interrogated by him? That his steely gaze could cool a room by five degrees, that he can only be killed by a silver bullet, like a werewolf?
rookie: *chuckles*
Tony: They're all true, except for the silver bullet part. Might give him indigestion or heartburn, but -- I don't think it'd kill him. Any other questions?

So, I've been watching a buttload of NCIS lately. Bouncing all over the seasons, too. There was an episode -- "Frame-Up" -- that I really wanted to see but all I could find online was the same two clips.

Guess what episode of NCIS played today? :D I was not disappointed. :3

In celebration, here's an awesome video someone made of Tony DiNozzo to a song about Inspector Gadget~

Yesterday I watched the episode "Under Covers", in which Tony takes out an assassin while tied to a chair. Awesome!

((I need to find out in which episode McGee says "I'm not gay, Tony." And in which episode is Ziva reading Tony's email from Naomi over his shoulder?

Ziva: I didn't know your nickname was "Honeybuns".
Gibbs: *just walking in* Only Naomi and I call him that.
Tony: I didn't think you were going to say anything about that, boss.

I need to find them, and I need to watch them.))
eliyes: (sleepy DiNozzo)
I'm watching the JAG eps that intro'd the NCIS for spin-off, and I'm wondering what'll be happening to the two team members who didn't become regulars in the show (so far as I know -- maybe they were in the early NCIS eps). Gibbs is already made of love, good with kids, hard-assed about investigation and all that fun stuff.

But Tony, now -- TONY WEARS GLASSES. :D Reading glasses, I think. And his hair is longer and slicked back, and he has this ugly brown zip-up hoodie that makes him seem geek chic. It is to LULZ, sir!

I'm glad that, to the best of my knowledge, they cut out this "from the pov of the dead body" crap. It's creepy, and it puts an inappropriately supernatural slant on the show.

...I'm guessing Ducky doesn't think Viv has been fully broken in yet, or he wouldn't be being so mean/nice to her. He doesn't seem to dislike her, exactly. *ponders*

Woooow, Harm is not looking terribly good in this ep. I forgot how much of a jerk he is when his back is up. Granted, I had stopped watching JAG by this point.

AJ! *hugs him* Damn, I missed AJ.

Poor Tony, stuck checking every bridge on the Potomac upriver of the body all by himself, with a spray bottle and blue light.

Aaaand now I have to stop and go to work. Phooey!

Oh hi, Tony's glasses, nice to see you aga-- Hee! X3
Gibbs: C'mon, loverboy.
Tony: What -- where we going?

Okay, I was reading Ducky wrong -- he's trying to get into Viv's pants. XD

"Ice Queen" aired April, 2003. In it, Harmon Rabb asks Gibbs how long he'd been "doing this", and Gibbs said 19 years. That would be 1984. That's also the year his daughter was born. The popular estimated DOB for Gibbs hovers around 1959-1961, which puts him at 23-25 in 1984.

Eee eee Tony in glasses again. :D (I'm informed that the glasses will make an appearance again a few times in season 1.)

Gibbs: Tony -- nail this guy fast. I need your ass out here.
Tony: Alone?
Gibbs: *pause* Bring whoever you need.

Awww, I like jet-lagged Tony with his hair all floppy and his eyes all heavy-lidded and bright. *pets* He's like a 6'2" puppy.

Hm. Gibbs asked Tony how good his Spanish his, but he himself is speaking Spanish here. I know he gets Tony to translate things from Spanish and the like during the series and some people have speculated that Gibbs isn't as good with the language. *shrugs* In this episode, Gibbs shops for fish whereas Tony gets into an argument about how he has a delivery order to this boat. It seems more involved, but I don't speak the language.

Aw, the little relieved faces Tony and Viv make when Gibbs lets them know he's okay~ So cute. :3

Hm. That's once an episode that Viv screwed up, pissed Gibbs off, and Tony said something to try to make her feel better.

Well, that's it for these episodes!
