Comment and I'll give you three fandoms, for which you must answer these:
01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
a_trill gave me Star Trek, X-Men, and Stargate.
Star Trek
01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
I'm pretty sure I was born in the fandom. After all, my parents are trekkies. I can't remember a time when I didn't at least know about it -- but I'm pretty sure that TNG was my first real Trek love, when it first aired. TOS uses too many big words for a little kid like I was. Of course, now I've seen every episode of Star Trek anything (which doesn't count Enterprise, naturally; do you see "Star Trek" anywhere in that title? No. So it doens't count.)
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
Completely seriously, here: I will be a trekkie 'til I die. I may go through phases where I am not actively loving on it (and I have done), and I may blow up action figures with firecrackers (which I have done, but it was just a random Romulan), but I will alwyas, always come back. And you know why? BECAUSE IT IS MADE OF LOVE.
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
*sound of a record being scratched*
I have to PICK ONE?! Auuugh... Okay, okay, let's categorize, here (and forget the "etc." because that could mean ANYTHING):
TOS
-fave episode is a toss-up between "I, Mudd" and "The Apple"
-fave movie is Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (but I'd LOVE to just smash II, III, and IV into one long movie because OH WAIT THEY KINDA ARE)
-fave book is Death Count by L.A. Graf, with an entire herd of really close runners-up
TNG
-fave episode is really, really hard to choose... Okay, my fave episodes today are "The Outrageous Okona" and "Darmok"; feel free to check back with me again tomorrow.
-all of the TNG movies sucked. I'm sorry, but it's true. I especially disliked Star Trek: First Contact, however.
-fave book is yet another tough call... I'm actually rather fond of Imzadi by Peter David, but find that The Eyes of the Beholders (by A.C. Crispin) has better reread value, and also Dr. Selar! And tiny, plucky blind Andorian child! And the only Tellarite I've seen outside of TOS!
DS9
-fave episode is, at present, "Explorers"
-there are no movies for this, and I haven't read any of the books
Voyager
-fave episode, hands down, is "The Chute". ♥ 'THIS MAN IS MY FRIEND! NOBODY TOUCHES HIM!'
-I don't read books for this, either.
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Sure do! I post fic and fanart, I get into discussions on LJ, dA, YouTube, and in person, I edit Memory Alpha, and I've got trek filk on my iPod -- I've tried to write some, but it didn't work out. I am seriously considering recording some that other people wrote, however. ^^;
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
Yes! And you know what, one of the great things to come of the new movie is that new people are getting into the older stuff as well as the new version. It's like a Trek renaissance on the 'net right now, I'm lovin' it!
X-Men
01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
My cousin left his issue of X-Factor #1 (vol. 1) in my parents' car, which introduced me to the original five X-Men. But then I kind of forgot about them until the 90s cartoon came on TV, and which point I started watching that and picking up the comics (it took me a little bit to realise that the ones based on the show and the ones the show were based on did not necessarily intersect). My best friend was on the same ride, too, which worked out well, and actually my first ever experience reading fanfiction from the internet was a story she found on usenet someplace.
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I'm not sure I can honestly be considered "in the fandom" right now, actually. I'm boycotting the X-Men comics until they stop sucking (although I've been picking up X-Factor because, hey, RIC CAME OUT OF THE CLOSET AS BI WOOHOO WOOHOO, and also buying trades of older story arcs I loved... and the last issue of EXiles...) I am still a fan of many of the characters, though, and I'm still writing fic... I suspect that the love will never really die.
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
Strangely, this is not a hard question! I firmly believe that INFERNO was the best story arc that has ever happened to the Marvel Mutants. It spanned multiple books, it was set up and built towards for years in advance, and it was just an awesome kicking COHERENT story, which they really suck at these days.
As for non-comics media... I watched the first X-Men movie and decided not to bother with the rest. I honestly liked the Generation X made-for-TV (*cough*failedpilot*cough*) better. Even though Jubilee was white. Because it was COLOURFUL. Which is where all the cartoons have gone pretty much okay.
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Yep to all of the above.
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
Not as much as I want the people who have gotten into it in the last decade to see how awesome it used to be in comparison to now.
Stargate
01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
Considering I vehemently avoided it like the plague for YEARS? XD This fanfic. Because I cannot resist
doctorv writing JLI. And then, deliberate effort on the part of a friend who is a major Sam fangirl and Jack/Daniel shipper, who capitalized on my sudden tentative interest to get me completely sucked into Atlantis. (Thank you,
sinfonica! XD) Then I sorta reverse branched into SG-1, tentatively.
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I've got two seasons of SGA and one of SG-1 worth of DVDs and over 9000* fanfic faved. I think I might be here for the long haul. But I won't watch SGU.
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
My fave episode of any of the Stargate episodes of either series I've watched is "The Shrine". ;~;
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
I write fic. Sometimes I even post it! I've been known to make icons, but I don't draw anything; and I've gotten into some pretty intense discussions, just not lately.
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
I'd like SGU to completely tank while SGA and SG-1 merch flies off the shelves and the fans keep clamouring for an SGA movie, actually. >3
*No, really. That wasn't meant to be a DBZ joke.
