Author's Notes: Okay, so the title makes more sense if you know that in the Japanese language, the language itself is called Nihon go. Puns awaaaaaaaay!
Alex frowned at the mission assignments.
"Scott -- wouldn't it make more sense for Storm's team and mine to swap? The powers--"
Cyclops shook his head. So did a few othes, including Storm.
"You'd definitely need Iceman, and I can't send him to Japan."
"Why not?"
"Because the minute the Yakuza found out he's there, they'd send a hit squad after his family."
"Again," Bobby muttered.
"Why?" Alex demanded, baffled and alarmed.
Cyclops actually sighed. "It's a long story, but that was the deal: as long as he stays out of Japan, they won't try to kill him and his parents. We don't have time to get into another war with the Yakuza right now --"
"Doing so would inevitably threaten the truce between the Tetsu-kai and the Yashida clan, which would put Wolverine's daughter at risk," Storm informed Alex. "The groups involved know my strongest personal tie is to the neutral third party they chose during their truce-making, despite my connections to Logan. I am the obvious choice."
"You have your assignments," Cyclops said, and left the room. Everyone scattered to prepare.
In the hall, Alex shot Bobby a look. "What did you do?!"
"Saved my girlfriend from the cyberai sent to kidnap her." Bobby threw his hands in the air. "In my defense, neither of us knew she was the oyabun's granddaughter until her 'parents' revealed they'd smuggled her to America as an infant and raised her under a false name, at her mother's behest."
Alex rubbed his face. Really, this was no weirder than anything else that had happened to X-Men.
"And the deal..."
"Wasn't my idea. Opal struck it with her granddad. Basically the threat of my death guarantees her good behaviour. He really didn't want me in the family."
"Serious," Alex commented, meaning Bobby's relationship with this 'Opal' girl. He wondered if Lorna knew. Then, "'Cyberai'?"
"Cybernetically enhanced 'samurai' sworn to the oyabun."
"Lame pun."
"Hey," Bobby laughed, "I didn't name them."
