So I saw someone ranting about how Obi-Wan is terrible because when the Jedi Council were like "no, this kid is too dangerous to train" he agreed and said they should send him back to Tatooine, which is totally harsh because the kid was a slave.

Yes.

Except.

Did Obi-Wan actually know Anakin had been a slave, at that point? I admit I haven't rewatched Ep I since it was in theaters, but I don't remember if that information had been relayed to him at that point. I checked a copy of the script online and it doesn't show in dialogue, but scripts are never 100% accurate.

I mean, if he knew, yes, that's harsh, but if he didn't? I mean clearly not everyone on Tatooine is a slave, look at Luke.

So I'm wondering if he knew. And if he didn't, like... when did he find out? Did he find out? That would have been one hell of a shocker to have come up once he was training the kid, I bet.

I'm kind of disappointed that I can't find any crossovers for Night Hood and Harry Potter. I mean, they even got an actor with a very similar hair colour to Arsène's to play Remus in the movies, surely the visuals work. Imagine if Arsène Lupin, gentleman burglar, was a wizard and that's how he could do all that he did. Or better, he wasn't a wizard, but since his skills of thievery and disguise were just so elite, someone from the wizarding world was made to investigate if it was a wizard using their magic to mess with the muggles, and fell in love. He'd be the right age to be Remus' grandfather*, it could totally work. He doesn't even have to be Remus' actual grandfather; having awesome burglary inclined relations on the continent could only be useful to a member of the Order, during the first War against Voldemort, right? Cousins!

The closest I've found, and this is really stretching, is the Lupin family being originally from France and moving to England because Beauxbatons wouldn't accept a werewolf student and Dumbledore did.

* I judge this thusly: I am two years younger than Harry Potter. By all accounts, Lily and the Marauders seem to have been within 5 years of how old my mom was when she had me. Her mother was born during WWII. Night Hood seems to take place in the 20s, and Arsène doesn't have a kid during the show, so a child soonish after the show would be the right age to be Remus Lupin's dad's generation.

We never see Cory Raines fight with a sword, and afaik the Watcher's CD-ROM doesn't specify what kind of weapon he favours. But he was born in 1256 in England, and his teacher had formerly been a knight (in fact he died while jousting the year before), so I'm sure he does know how to use a sword.

My headcanon is that Cory uses more than one kind -- he's not as versatile as Rebecca, but he doesn't stick to just one type of blade the way Marcus does. And hey, Duncan switches from claymore to katana and the occasional rapier. It's not so weird to have multiple weapons. I figure he uses the following: an arming sword, a hanger, or a hunting sword. He's also good with a flanged mace and with a staff... plus he's a skilled archer. He's been keeping up with firearms as they develop, as a point of interest in things that can kill him.

Cory often appears to go unarmed; he doesn't particularly care about the Game, but he will defend himself. To that end, he has weapons and other useful things stashed in various boltholes. He's perfectly willing to temporarily kill an Immortal who challenges him and hightail it out of town rather than follow the rules. This is one of the things that drives Matthew the most up the wall... but he puts up with it because Cory doesn't ever cheat in order to behead people. (That he knows of...)

Cory's been anti-monarchist since he was mortal, and he still is. He learned to grin and fake it when he was Matthew's squire, but he'd rather not. (He's anti-fascist and arguably anarchist, as well. He has literally gotten into arguments about it.) He's not a coward, but he's not interested in fighting in wars on behalf of rulers he doesn't respect, especially as it means killing mortals -- and he goes out of his way not to kill mortals. He doesn't think he's got the right. (He doesn't kill that mobster in Money No Object, but on the other hand if he was a knight, he would have fought mortals... I'm not sure how this one squares, really.) He moved to the USA after the American Revolution. (So did Matthew, but he did it because he last life had been a bit too well known.)

Cory was part of the Underground Railroad, and was how Matthew was intending to get Carl out of Louisiana and North to freedom.

According to the Watchers' CD, Cory is 336 years older than Duncan MacLeod. Duncan hasn't realised this -- he thinks Cory is an American born in the late 1800s or so.

The Watchers have trouble keeping steady surveillance on Cory; he just moves around too much, too fast and suddenly. They primarily track him through the financial redistribution he tends to leave in his wake, and through sightings when he crosses paths with other Immortals. He plays messenger-boy for older members of his line less now that telephones and electronic communications are so easy, but he still drops by with packages too sensitive to send by ordinary means, and enjoys catching up on the gossip. This is especially useful for exchange between Marcus and Ceirdwyn in their more settled phases with Matthew and Alex who are currently embroiled in investigative espionage that keeps them as mobile as Cory himself.

Ask him why, if he's English, he doesn't have an English accent, and Cory will outright laugh at you. The language he grew up speaking isn't modern English, and the French Matthew made him learn was Norman.

Clearly the Neverland version of Cougar is a Lost Boy with famously wicked aim with a slingshot and/pr peashooter, a hat, an adorable grin with one tooth missing, and the obvious animal theme to his clothes if we're going that route. Neverland Jensen must therefore be a fairy who lives in a really boss pirate hat he stole and often harrasses the mermaids (with mixed results).

And maybe this is what happens to them after the comics. Or is a story Pooch tells his little girls.

Vaya con Dios, angelitos.

Namor is walking out of a meeting with the ambassadors of a few countries and probably an Avenger or two when a firey figure streaks across the sky towards them.
"Who is that?" someone asks, and he calmly says, "Toro."
"How can you tell?"
"They look different."
"NAMOR!" Toro yells, and his voice is full of excitement. He drops down in front of the King of Atlantis and grabs his wrists almost before his flames are gone. "I'm gonna be a father!" And his voice is full of wild elation.
Namor grips his wrists in turn, grinning at him. "Congratulations!" Because of course he knows how much this means to Toro, of course he does, he was there through the years of Toro and Ann's marriage, and knows how they were afraid if she go pregnant with Toro's child she might get burned.
Toro laughs joyously. "Do you have a few minutes to spare? I'd like to introduce you to the mother of my future child--" His grin is huge and proud. "--we were just house-hunting, it's not far."
And they fly off and Namor meets Freya.

Like:
As much as Jim wants to be there with Toro and Freya and the baby, and as much as he likes the home they are makig together, he kind of didn't want to give up his old place. It held memories, and it seems like he's always having to leave that kind of thing behind.
He solves the problem by giving the old apartment to Tara.

Like:
As the USS Lehigh approaches the distressed outpost, they have a senior staff briefing, and it's Steve who knows what phenomenon they're studying, Steve who can name several ships that have gone missing after managing to get out a report of the readings of it, and two of those were Starfleet. Phillips and Peggy take this in stride, but don't say anything about why he is so familiar with this particular research. Others can just assume he's being an efficient and well-informed second officer. It's not until later in the story, when Steve and Peggy are stranded with Thor and Sif, that it comes out that his parents were on one of those ships. Foreshadowing!

Animal Transformation AU fic is, like, superduper popular in The Losers fandom, and I have no idea why. It's not always, or even usually, werewolves. It seems to be mostly "some poeple turn into animals in this universe" with a few outliers of "everybody turns into animals in this universe. Yes, everybody. In the entire world."

And okay, cool...? I mean, it seems like every fandom has at least one (Semi-)Inexplicable ThingTM. (Some are more explicable than others, frex The Great due South Werewolf Thing -- one of the main characters is part wolf, and has conversations with 1-6 humans. Not so hard to understand. The SGA Penguin Thing... they start out in Antarctica, that's basically the only hook, but SGA fandom has multiple Things and one of them is turning the mains into inanimate objects... Digression ends.) I just don't know why people turn into animals is specifically The Losers' Thing. Or if it's possible this is just a cross-fandom Thing that's more obvious in The Losers fandom because said fandom is so small. (From what I can tell, it started before the Teen Wolf show became popular, and The Losers go for multi-species approaches much of the time, so that's probably not a huge contributing factor.)

(Is it because of Cougar?)

Okay, so, in 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk, which is crossing over with the upcoming Avengers movie, P.J. Kerr played Jim Wilson. In the comics, Jim was one of the Hulk's sidekicks, as well as his friend, and I think possibly the first Marvel hero to die of AIDS.

He was also the nephew of Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, Captain America's longest-running partner and good friend.

Might movie Steve meet Sam? I would be happy with even something like the two of them bumping into one another on the street and Jim (played again by Kerr for maximum recognition factor) hailing him as "Uncle Sam" or even just "Sam". (Hell, someone calling out to "Uncle Sam" would get Steve's attention anyway. ;3)

Spock plays the Vulcan harp/lute/lyrette (TOS: "Charlie X", "The Conscience of the King", "Amok Time", "The Way to Eden"; Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) and the piano (TOS: "Requiem for Methuselah"). The Platonians forced him to play the kithara and sing (TOS: "Plato's Stepchildren").

McCoy plays the banjo (TOS: "This Side of Paradise").

Scotty plays the bagpipes (seen in his quarters in TOS: "By Any Other Name"; actually played in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan).

Uhura sings (TOS: "Charlie X", "The Conscience of the King", "The Changeling"), hums (TAS: "Once Upon a Planet"), and dances (TOS: "Charlie X", Star Trek V: The Final Frontier). Scenes of her playing the Vulcan harp were cut and are therefore noncanonical. She didn't know how to play the harpsichord except when given the ability by Trelane (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos").

Picard learned to play the (Ressikan) flute (TNG: "The Inner Light", "Lessons", "A Fistful of Datas", Star Trek Nemesis).

Riker plays trombone (TNG: "11001001", "Second Chances", "Future Imperfect", "The Next Phase", "Second Chances", "Thine Own Self") and the piano (TNG: "Unification II"). (Fun fact! It was actually Jonathan Frakes playing the trombone every time we saw Riker play.)

Deanna Troi may or may not play the piano; we see her sitting at one in TNG: "Masterpiece Society".

Data plays the violin (TNG: "In Theory", "Inheritance", "Elementary, Dear Data", "The Ensigns of Command", "Sarek", "Tin Man", Star Trek: Insurrection), classical guitar (TNG: "Silicon Avatar"), and the oboe (TNG: "In Theory"). He also sings (TNG: "In Theory", Star Trek Nemesis).

Worf collects and sings Klingon Opera (TNG: "Unification II"; DS9: "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places", "In the Cards", "In Purgatory's Shadow", "Penumbra").

Benjamin Sisko plays the piano (DS9: "Image in the Sand", "Shadows and Symbols").

Miles O'Brian plays the cello (TNG: "The Ensigns of Command", "Lessons"; DSP: "Shadowplay"). In fact, he was accepted into the Aldebaran Music Academy but didn't want to go (his father had sent the application), so the day before he was supposed to leave he enlisted in Starfleet instead.

Keiko O'Brian (née Ishikawa) plays the clarinet (TNG: "In Theory").
