I think that maybe Thomas Raymond (Toro) learned to play the guitar, after the war. I picture him playing Junkies Lament.

(Granted, I also think he knows all the words to Caberet and would love For Your Entertainment by Adam Lambert...)

Happily ignored by our favorite teeny firebug, I'm sure. If Toro learned anything during the war, it was how to ignore Bucky's Rants on Things (tm).

Revenge will be had for any such rants, of course, when Toro and Bucky (in modern times) discover photographic evidence (possibly provided by Steve) of that costume that showed off Namor's navel ring. (The shell one.)

I could see it coming about by Bucky and Toro making a comment on v-necked costumes, and Steve breaking out a scrapbook (they'd better get used to his scrapbooks) and showing them, first, his Nomad costume (which simulates a v-neck); second, Falcon's most memorably chest-baring v-necked costume, and third, Namor.

Because that v dropped below his waist -- and then of course there's the little golden shell. And the ponytail. (Even if he didn't have it just then, which I'm not positive about, he would show them it, because jeepers. Dat tail.)

This is why I'm sad more books don't revisit that particular period, when Namor ran Oracle. Because you KNOW Jim (who was working there, at the time) had tons of fun with that particular bit of his boss' fashion.

Since it's from his first appearance, I'd chalk it up to "Bill Everett not realizing what a hassle hair is to draw" and not settling on a good way to simplify it just yet.
