So, I just poked a fanfic that was introed as "McShep" and then also specified to be "John/Rodney".

The Department of Redundancy Department called --

McShep is McKay/Sheppard, and thus the John/Rodney was unnecessary repetition -- EXCEPT that you could conceivable have pre-marriage Jeannie McKay and John. Or you might need to specify if this were a gender-swap AU where in your McShep is, like, Joan and Meredith.

At this point in my ponderings, my brain jumped fandoms, and then I was thinking Special Agent McGee and Director Shepard --

THESE THINGS ARE DANGEROUS.

Oh well. At least "McShep" doesn't sound like a venereal disease, unlike, for example, "Squinoa".

...Commenting on someone's fanfic solely to point out the glaring error on which their entire plot hinges is... mean, right?

Thank you all for your advice. I have now commented on the fic in question.
