cats_n_crying and, like him, while I fell that I have ended up with some of my less interesting icons, I shall follow the rules. Alas.

So! First up, is Kudou Youji from Weiss Kreuz winking. I rp as Youji (not on lj though) and occasionally write a bit of fic for him - and think he's pretty but the amount of art of him I actually like that's not from the manga is low, so I have icons of some of the art I do like. Whee! Since I had a picture of Youji winking, and I wanted a wink icon, I made this.

Date: 2006-09-20 01:22 pm (UTC)The subject of the icon is Angel, from the RENT movie, and the line of text is "I'll cover you", which is from the love song he sings with Collins. I love that song. This particular shot of Angel is from the end of the movie when Mark and Roger are screening the film Mark has made about his friends throughout the story. It's poignant, because Angel is, by this point, dead.
Angel is a very loving, giving, friendly person, and when he passes away the group of friends split up for a bit, feeling that he was the glue that held them together, and having trouble coping with the loss. It doesn't help that he died of AIDS and that three of the surviving cast also have AIDS and are thus forcefully reminded of their own situations and imperiled mortality...
I really like RENT, and I liked this icon. It's supportive and a little bittersweet all at once.

Date: 2006-09-20 01:27 pm (UTC)I like Shura. "Live for honour, die for faith." I call this icon "down but not out" since at the point it's from, he's still going to crawl his way to the top. It's also from a very emotionally powerful scene, but I wo't say what, because that would be spoiling it. Go, read the books. They're awesome. By the Hades Arc, they're also pretty.

This particular Nocker is from a picture that Melissa Uran did, and if I'm not mistaken it's in the Redcap Kithbook... Poor sod is having to fix the grisly magical sausage machine for a Redcap. Redcaps can eat anything and are always hungry (I like them, too). The machine can make sausages out of anything: spoiled food, furniture, garbage, dead bodies, magical swords, parking tickets...
I needed an icon for being frustrated given the way my ficcing has been going, and I love Melissa Uran's art (if you're clever you can find her lj), and I really do love Nockers, so it seemed like a smart plan.

He's a bandit leader and a celestial warrior and he's very very fast and casts illusions of wolves and hits people with a giant metal fan and set them on fire and can't swim and has fangs and is afraid of women and milk! He's a funny guy and he has an interesting fashion sense and he drinks too much when he has the opportunity, and whenever he and his equally-odd best friend Kouji meet up they do a little dance together. While he is frequently a sort of comic relief, he also wears his heart on his sleeve and feels the loss of his friends deeply.
That's just the tip of the iceburg for reasons I've loved the character since I was, oh, about fourteen. ;3 He came up in conversation recently and so I made an icon. The art is by Watasi Yuu, the mangaka.

Date: 2006-09-20 01:54 pm (UTC)...I'm really not sure that that's actually obvious, but I'm using it anyway because hey - Bobby! And it's pretty! This is cropepd from a fanart which may have been done for a fic I never read. Bobby is drapped over ...something. A cliff? An ice slide? I'm too lazy to check. Green Lantern Kyle Rayner is floating protectively above him, firing an energy blast at someone off-panel. Not a pairing I'd really endorse, but I nice pic of Bobby, for which I am always grateful.

Sometimes, however, she goes from mild-mannered blow-you-up kick-butt blue-haired mercenary-babe to... this. This is Leona when her blood riots, and she goes really feral and killy and redheaded and blood-barfing. Yay for being descended from a legendary monster!
