Title: Visiting With Vikings
Fandom: Marvel (Avengers? Captain America and Thor, at least)
Summary: Sif meets Thor's friend Steve.
A/N: Applying stuff about Viking culture to Marvel's Asgardians produces plotbunnies. Thanks to
kiffie for the beta read!
"Verily, husband, it hath been long since thou hast brought such trophies to mine door."
"Mistaketh not, mine love -- this man is not war-treasure, but battle-brother. He hast stood bravely by mine side 'gainst enemies most fearsome, and I wouldst fain offer him the hospitality of Asgard."
Sif uncrossed her arms. "Maketh known to me thine courageous friend, and I will welcome him."
"Certainly! This man hight Steven Rogers, widely known in Midgard as Captain America. Friend Steve, this is the Lady Sif, mine wife."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am. I apologize for descending on your household with no forewarning."
"'Tis no imposition. Enter and be welcome."
Later, when Steve asked, Thor explained, "Mine wife misapprehendest thou to be an ornament for my bed. I have long since ceased slave-taking, however."
Steve was not really sure what to make of that.

Date: 2012-02-10 08:33 pm (UTC)Now I'm imagining Thor inviting Steve over for dinner regularly, if only because Sif likes him. (Thor, for his part, would prefer to invite Steve over for GLORIOUS BATTLE, but Sif doesn't stand for that shit in the house -- out of the house, she happily participates.)

Date: 2012-02-11 03:01 am (UTC)All of these things are true things! :D And if Loki tried to be snide about Sif liking to have Steve over, Thor would laugh in his face, inform him that Steve also has a lady, praise her as fighting like a hellcat, and then tell Loki he's just jealous because Sif makes such a superiour chicken-and-beer stew -- and her bilberry pancakes are literally divine.
And then Sif would ask Steve to bring Sharon to dinner. :3

And then Sif would ask Steve to bring Sharon to dinner.
Now, you have to write this.

Date: 2012-02-12 12:06 am (UTC)She and Sif would certainly get along quite well -- both of their respective love interests drive them up the wall, frex. X3

Date: 2012-02-12 01:28 am (UTC)Ohhh, man, the "I love him and I love his justice-fuelled fightans, but sometimes, just sometimes, I want to strangle him a bit..." anecdotes they could share... X3

Date: 2012-02-10 08:42 pm (UTC)I'm picturing poor Steve sitting there, trying to figure out what the proper response is.

Date: 2012-02-11 03:14 am (UTC)Or maybe in the Avengers movie. Millions of fans around the world would go o.O, and it would be glorious. :D

Date: 2012-02-11 11:27 am (UTC)Alas, the Cap movie cut a lot of Cap's WWII adventures, including fighting Thor (and everything about the Invaders *pout*) so I don't think it would be in the movie... But they did have the Cosmic Cube hidden in a carving of Yggdrasil. I'd be happy if Kubrick showed up all imprinted on Cap~ Loki or one of his allies tries to use the Cube and its like, 'No, I only love Captain America now!" XD

Date: 2012-02-12 12:04 am (UTC)And Steve would give him a friendly shoulder squeeze and assure Thor that he's much happier to be fighting with Thor than against him, and they would at some point drink a toast along the lines of "down with Nazism!" and it would be good.
Best bedtime story, ever. :D
