HeroClix acquired since the last time I talked about my HeroClix Army: Killer Frost, Icicle, Mento, Dr. Light (the good girl one), and Bouncing Boy. a) Yes, I am collecting ice-themed figs, I have five so far. b) OMFG CHUCK TAINE ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Legion forever! 8D

I think they should make a HeroClix of Amanda Waller. It will say "The Wall" on the base and her special ability will be to increase the effectiveness of any Suicide Squad members in play. This ability will be called "crack the whip". ;D

Read the latest ish of Booster Gold today and am still laughing over him hitting on Skeets. Is that how you always reward brilliance, Booster? Wow, that'll make writing Booster/Beetle easier. X3

Picked up issues 24 & 25 of Mutant X (I blame [livejournal.com profile] dlasta). These would be the issues where Hank regains and then re-loses his brilliance, and also cures Iceman of his whole not-being-able-to-change-back-or-touch-anyone thing. Bob is faintly punk, it amuses me. I'm pretty sure Cap thought he was being hit on, though. XD This is actually a kind of interesting team... (Why do I collect AUs? WHY? Is it a symptom of my basic dissatisfaction with the main-line Marvel U?) Still, Brute has an interesting design. The grab-bag of Mutant X artists seem to have a better track record for deciding whether or not Hank has digitigrade legs and sticking by that choice than the sods on any X-Men book in the last *mumble* years.

Ever found a fanfic writer who has an uncanny knack for writing stories with premises you find really interesting, about characters you really like -- but writes those characters in a way that you find repellently OOC? *sigh* This is worse if it's in a smaller fandom. I am mildly frustrated.

Meanwhile, writing my [livejournal.com profile] random_30 prompt list in my notebook has been useful, and I wish I'd thought of it sooner.

Oh! Oh! I forgot to mention! Camelot 3000 is being released in a deluxe hardcover trade! *happy dance*

Browsing the Boostle friendspage....

wait, what? There's hitting on Skeets in the new issue?

Man, they need better summaries in the Scans daily posts.

Snort. And....I'm imagining Skeets's reaction to this. Heh.

(how sad is it that this Made My Day?!)

He doesn't react, he just gets to work while Michelle distracts her brother with some very logical questions. I think he must be used to it.

(Well it helped make mine, so... XD)

Probably. It's why I'm running off to the retro-Silver Age corner with Booster Gold and the Flash Rogues (I swear, two new pairings, each with one member dead, in the last six months is a sign of *something8).

See, I'd like to see Piper/Starman II and Trickster/White Lightning. Not that there's any evidence for that first one.

This is me hiding in the backbins:
Camelot 3000 is going to be printed! :D Transgendered pseudo-lesbianism with swords! :D?

Piper/Booster might be an interesting pairing. They're both the surviving half of a inventor-genius/charming-goofball pair... [sadly, I do not know the other characters you mentioned, because lo, my knowledge of the DCU is small]

Ah, Camelot 3000. I wonder if I should get that for my girlfriend.

Except that Booster has this big freaky thing about wharf rats, and DC seems to think Piper should have rats. [Starman II is a magenta-haired blue-skinned bisexual alien warrior from space, and White Lightning is an Impulse antagonist with whole Trickster teamed up for a story arc.]

I wonder if I should get that for myself. For Christmas. :D

The rats are a newish thing, and I bet they can work out something along the lines of "only three, small, well-behaved, and they *don't* sleep in the bed", if only because from what I can tell, Piper without *any* connections to people goes totally off the rails, and given the power he apparently has, that is not a good thing. I mean, it's not like Booster doesn't go off the rails *too*, but he's never blown up a planet in reaction.

I suppose Piper/Starman depends on how much snark Starman can tolerate, and how Piper feels about aliens and dating bisexuals...

yes, for Christmas.

I can see Booster arguing that Piper would do just as well with cats, and Skeets having to ref.

Mikaal (Starman II) used to hang out with Jack Knight (Starman V) who was plenty damned snarky, I assure you.

Poor Skeets wouldn't even get to beg off then.

And somehow I doubt Piper would give up his rats entirely. He seems pretty fixated on them (and just slightly crazy, in that he seems to think they talk back). He did keep it under control during the FBI project, and he didn't talk to them too much when he and Trickster were running around -- possibly because he didn't have any *energy* after dealing with James Jesse 24/7.

I can see Booster trying to wean Piper off rats to something, *any* fluffier and less threatening, and winding up covered in rabbits or squirrels or genetically engineered tribbles from the future or something.

Me, I want to know where Booster's rat issue came from. Granted, Gotham is either on the East Coast or a lake, depending on who you ask, and they have wharves... Maybe in the future, wharf rats are really, really seriously bad mojo. Maybe he could confess this to Piper and win his love. I mean... >.>

Well, Booster grew up poor, didn't he? Even in the future, I bet poor neighborhoods have rat infestations...and I bet future rats still carry all sorts of nasty diseases.

Playing on Piper's sympathetic nature would probably work; he is generally a nice guy, and would try to put away his rat obsession. It's not like he had it *before* he was sent to Iron Heights, so it's not intrinsic to his character. It just looks really cool, in a freaky rat-covered way.

Booster grew up poor in a post-nuclear cataclysm partially destroying North America metropolis, in at least one version. I'm picturing wharf rats the size of dobermans, but much more vicious.

Yeah, rats never really came up before traumatic stay at prison while innocent.

Booster: I like my men like I like my coffee -- NOT covered in rats
Piper: Oh but thank god, you like men!
Booster: *blinka* Well... Yeah.
Piper: *grin* So... How do you feel about older men?
Booster: *lech smile* Hey, I haven't been born yet. You're all older men to me. Also, at least one version of me married an octogenarian for her money. You are not nearly old enough to scare me off.

Maybe not mutated rats of unusual size, but rats running back and forth from the contaminated zones bringing all sorts of radioactive crap with them?

And yet now he talks to them -- damnit, I want Wally to actually talk to Piper and realize that his friend has gotten a) scarily powerful and b) loopy, and maybe Wally should try talking him down, you know? Or Linda, to do the same and thump Wally upside the head when he's a bit slow on the uptake.

Hee. I want to see Rip, Michelle and Wally's reactions. Rip will be annoyed with the interuption of the mission, Michelle will be 'wee, my brother has a honey! And he's cute! Good for them!' and Wally will probably be appalled that Piper is dating such an shameless jerk.

Maybe the water is contaminated? It seems to be "wharf rats" specifically.

I want Linda to hug Piper until he's better, to be honest. I always liked their friendship.

Also: Wally so cannot talk, from the time period when they mainly associated.

I suppose the river could be contaminated if the nuclear fallout is upstream -- but that would mean that the water supply for the entire city would be compromised or imported...

Linda needs to talk to Piper too -- I don't think *they've* had a scene together since the Rogues War, and she and Piper used to have almost as many scenes as Wally and Piper.

Well, Wally *shouldn't* talk, but he's not above being stupidly judgmental on occasion.

:-( Linda and Piper were awesome. They were the tag-team of Let's Argue Sense Into Wally, it was great.
