Today -- November 16, 2011 -- the US Congress is holding hearings about a possible American Internet censorship system. If this bill is passed, it will not only affect every 'net user and service provider in the states, it will set a terrible precedent for the rest of the world as well. Find out more here

So, did you know that people outside the USA can no longer make voice posts to their livejournals? Even though I have a paid account and it's supposed to be part of what I'm paying for. You notice that there's been no official announcement about this, but it's been the case since January.

April 6th edit: Well, they're working on it. I can post now, as can folk in Australia, Japan, and the UK. Here's hoping they keep expanding!

Edited to add: Oh, and LiveJournal's Non-Fiction Writing Essay Contest is also only open to US residents! Fun fun fun.
