FarScape is suspiciously loveable. I saw like 45 minutes of the miniseries on the flight North? And yeah. I have been a researching, YouTube hounding fiend ever since.
*removes something that was here!* >D
Oh, hell, watch it yourself! It's at the end of this awesome video. Crackers don't matter! *crazed laughter*
Apathocles, I blame AND thank you. :3

Hint: None of those characters were the key to getting me to watch FS. John was.

Date: 2007-05-30 05:51 pm (UTC)By the fourth season? I wanted to slam his face into the wall. Repeatedly. And Aeryn was completely unrecognisable, characterisation-wise. :(
Granted, I never liked J/A -- was one of the few people in the fandom who didn't 'ship them together -- but I liked the characters on their own. The later seasons did them no justice whatsoever. The miniseries actually reverted them back to their former selves somewhat, but that caused its own set of problems, because it made no sense for them to revert to their former characterisation. Sigh.
(... Can you tell that I'm not very fond of the last season or so? *g* There were some absolutely fabulous stand-alone eps, but as far as general coherency went... not so much.)
I did watch that vid.
It actually gave me a nightmare, mind, but I watched it.
Hee, sorry. And dude, Scorpius is one of my all-time favourite villains. Very much operates within a moral grey area. And Braca... well, he is known as the Smithers to Scorpy's Burns. Canonically. On multiple occasions. And there are leashes and chains and leather involved. XD
(Far as I'm concerned, the Scorpy/Braca canon of awesome is the best thing about the fourth season, hands down. *g* It probably won't surprise you to learn that

Date: 2007-05-31 05:55 am (UTC)Scorpius does seem interesting (even though he's a gimp in a codpiece XD), but I get Braca and Stark mixed up.

Date: 2007-05-30 03:49 am (UTC)Granted, I only sort of know what's going on. Mostly at this point my research has been watching Ben Browder interviews and con appearence footage. Like the BUNNY SUIT HAW

Date: 2007-05-30 06:04 pm (UTC)Dude. There are so much more interesting things than whether or not John and Aeryn get together!
Granted, my intense dislike of all things J/A may be colouring my perspective somewhat....
Seriously, though: trust me when I say that spoiling yourself will greatly lessen the viewing experience. There are so many twists and turns in this series, and they really lose their impact if you're spoiled for them. :(
The first couple of seasons were shown in Australia out of order, censored to all hell, and way behind the rest of the world (which made no sense, because we made the frigging show *sigh*), and it seriously took a lot of joy out of the viewing experience, for me. The story builds and builds upon itself, and watching it out of order is no fun.
At the very least, go watch the final four eps of the first season (Nerve, The Hidden Memory, Bone to be Wild, and Family Ties... holy crap, can't believe I still remember that) before you watch anything else. It's the changeover point from oldschool FS to later FS, and it introduces some major characters and story arcs.
(Oldschool FS: Kind of your traditional monster-of-the-week SF, although the building blocks for the later arc-related stuff were obviously being put in place. Later FS: More arc-oriented, space opera-type fare. I love them both.)
I apologise if I'm coming across as annoying or pushy, but seriously, it is so much better without spoilers. Please say you'll watch it in order? For me? *pleading eyes*

Date: 2007-05-31 05:59 am (UTC)I will watch it in order, even though I have already seen some of the miniseries.
It all sounds good, but I know I really hated it the one time I tried to watch it in 1999, so possibly first season is not for me.
