Just a little story

Uh, unbetaed -- just something that popped into my head when I woke up today. Jean-Paul and Bobby.
Inasmuch as Jean-Paul could be said to have formed any expectations at all about coming back -- from death, from total insanity -- not a single one of them involved being kissed by Bobby. Oh, sure, fantasies -- but he'd learned to keep his fantasies about Bobby on the back-burner of his mind.
It was shocking, then, when that was what happened. And the kiss was shocking, too: nothing tender, but rather a hard press of lips against his, searing and near-desperate in its intensity. He was caught totally off guard, had only enough time to suck in a startled breath through his nose before kiss transformed to rib-cracking hug.
Somehow after the kiss, he managed to get his arms up and hug back, heart pounding wildly and more aware of the juncture of his neck -- where Bobby now pressed his face -- than he had ever been in his life.
"H-hello," he managed, hands roaming quickly over Bobby's back and arms, checking to see that he was whole, that he was warm. Surprisingly, the answer was yes -- on both counts. "You're alive," he breathed in a sudden tremendous rush of relief, and pulled Bobby closer, holding him tightly but as though he were incredibly fragile. He tucked his own head down, feeling his nose brush against an ear.
"Slingshot, new momentum, blah blah blah," Bobby replied.
"I am so sorry," Jean-Paul began, squeezing his eyes shut in mirror of the way his heart constricted in his chest.
"Don't worry about it," Bobby mumbled, pulling away slightly. "I doubt I even know anyone who hasn't been brainwashed to be evil at some point. Myself included." He smacked Jean-Paul's arm, hard, and demanded in a low, intense voice, "Just don't do it again."
Reluctantly, Jean-Paul loosened his arms and let Bobby go. He only became aware of the wetness on his own cheeks when he saw Bobby swiping his eyes.
"Hey," Bobby said, with a boyish half-smile that nearly broke Jean-Paul's heart. "Welcome back."
He could only nod.
Con-crit very much appreciated.

Date: 2007-03-11 11:46 pm (UTC)Bobby has been Rampage, Scott was Erik the Red, Jean and the whole Dark Phoenix issue, Warren was Death, Hank -- actually, Hank was replaced by an evil counterpart from an alternate dimension, but I don't know if Bobby was there for that. Storm got her mind switched with that of Emma Frost, Xavier went evil that first time in the original series, that time with Onslaught, a few other times and I have no idea why anyone still trusts him. Hell, the entire expanded second team was brainwashed by Mojo at one point! Lorna has been been mind-controlled 7 major times, one of which was the first time she was possessed by Malice and lasted "several years". Gambit recently became one of the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse (as did Lorna, actually. And Sunfire.) Et bleedin' cetera.
