They made an announcement a week or so ago that they'd get removed, I think.

I think people were getting confused about new things oh no.

Apparently they were causing problems with the code in some of the journal styles, so they had to get reverted.

Maybe. I wasn't terribly keen on them, but I have custom CSS and I think I was one of the people they just weren't really displaying correctly for.
