Title: Artistic Competition
Summary: How the Pied Piper of the Batman: the Brave and the Bold universe reacts to the Music Meister.
Hartley Rathaway, aka Thomas Peterson, aka Pied Piper, the Sultan of Sound, the Maestro of Menace, the Felonius Flutist (okay, that last one needed work) was in prison when the Music Meister made his bid for world domination. He quickly realized two things: a) he was as immune to the Meister's sonic control as he was to his own, and b) this was an excellent chance to escape.
It took very little convincing to get the Warden to let him out; the loot from his last caper had never been recovered, so feigning an earnest desire to hand over the goods to the Meister netted him a guard, a car, and a couple of shovels. The guard even helped him dig up the buried safe he'd hidden in an abandoned barn on a piece of land he technically owned. Since their next stop would have been the guard's house to fetch his late wife's jewelry box, knocking the guy over the head with a shovel probably did him a favour.
The safe did not, of course, contain any proceeds of Piper's previous crimes beyond a few hundred dollars cash. It was packed with his own clothing, equipment, and an unused fake identity. He went into hiding. By morning, a group of superheroes had captured the Meister (apparently Black Canary's natural sonic powers gave her some immunity to being controlled through sonics, as well; Piper prudently took note.)
No matter. He hoped Meister would be wise enough to stay in his new cage -- but the moment he flew the coop, Piper would make him pay for stepping on his gig!
