Super-Sam?

So I'm doing a thing with Supergrrrl (and her reality) as seen in the Hyper-Tension! storyline back in Superboy v3 60-64. (I have identified nearly everyone in that Justice Society except the pink guy and the guy who's, like, if Steel had been inspired by Captain Marvel instead of Superman. The pink guy is kinda driving me nuts.)

The whole time, I've been thinking Superwoman's face looks weirdly familiar, and every time I look at Supergrrrl's face sans shades in that one panel where she's face-on, I get a twitch. I mean, over and above any resemblance to Superman and Superboy, and taking into account the fact that they were drawn by Tom Grummett (he makes everyone look the same, but this was before he was making everyone exactly the same).

And then it hit me:

They look like Sam Carter. Sam even had a similar hair cut to Superwoman's at the time! (Supergrrrl's 'do is the same plus braid and bangs. It's like the hair of Superwoman and Shidou Hikaru had a baby...) Well, except that long-haired alternate reality Sam -- I think the Superboy creative team at the time may have been Stargate fans.

Not like there aren't any Carters in the book -- or at least Guardian hallucinates interacting with Captain Rip Carter, leader of the Boy Commandos! And I've got Boosteriffic reasons to think about that!

I definitely need to brush up, yeah. You know easily I get confused by how their colour-coded uniforms don't always match their colour-coded mecha.

Yeah. When I was going through the Superboy issues trying to find the Hyper-Tension! story, I hit upon the first time he meets that alternate Clark Kent (during Zero Hour). At one point he's in the Smallville record store, chatting with the owner about how he's surprised a place like Smallville, Kansas has Hole, Liz Phair, and... at least two other things I can't recall off the top of my head.

So of course I came home and put on my Liz Phair playlist.

(I was gonna have the song listed be Supernova but, nah, too obvious. ;3 )

I basically just absorb mp3s from the internet, mostly in the form of fanmixes people have posted, so I have, lessee here... 8 Liz Phair songs from 5 albums. 'Fuck and Run' and 'Flower' from Exile In Guyville; 'Batmobile' from Juvenilia; 'Supernova' from Whip-Smart; 'Polyester Bride', 'Ride', and 'What Makes You Happy' (the 03:36 one) from Whitechocolatespaceegg; and 'Extraordinary' from an album my computer thinks was called Liz Phair but which has Queer Eye for the Straight Guy cover art. Huh.

Anyway, 6 of those came in one SGA fanmix called Blowjob Queen.

I am basically crap at getting actual albums from artists I like.

Of course, with super-ladies, it's all "looks like Amanda Tapping -- but buffer" and, in PG's case, "and with a lusher figure". But yeah, the resemblance can be seen. She really kind of has the attitude.
