"Tango By Two"
The first time they dance the tango, Bobby asks, taking Jean-Paul entirely by surprise. They move across the floor to sprightly, energetic music, testing each other's technique and ingenuity. Five minutes after they finish, Jean-Paul has already forgotten every step of their fancy footwork, memory too full of Bobby's big smile and the delight that bubbles out of them both as laughter, still holding hands as they bow to the applause of their friends.
The second time they dance the tango, they have a much better idea of how their bodies move together, and every move is charged with this thing between them. Jean-Paul drives Bobby across the floor as much with his gaze as with the music. Laughter has become intensity, smiles turned to shuddering want as they slide and strain together in the dance. This time they have no audience, and when the music ends, they fall into bed.

Isn't it? :D I wish I knew who the artist was, I just know it's from a Russian postcard that was BANNED IN THE UK when it came out. XD Possibly because of the bared breasts I've cropped out.

BANNED IN THE UK?! My word!
*snuggles right up, and brings tea* :3
Date: 2010-09-19 07:51 pm (UTC)I wouldn't know where to start.
*ostentatiously shuffles some papers* I've taken the liberty of compiling a short list of questions, drawn from a list of Regency tropes that I found on the internet. *ahem*
1) First of all, do you mean the literal Regency period, i.e. years 1811 through 1820, or the looser definition of "anywhere after the Seven Years War, ending in the crowing of Queen Victoria"? Just curious.
2) Is this just set in the Regency era (whichever one), or does it fall into one of the romance novel/story categories involving the time period, those being "Regency romance" (cerebral comedies of manners, usually rather brief, with scarcely a hint of sex) and "Regency historical" (torrid bodice ripper that just happens to be set during the period, usually not very historically accurate, especially as they didn't, strictly speaking, have the type of bodices that get ripped in bodice-rippers during the Regency period)?
3) Is either man a reformed or going-to-be-reformed rake?
4) With there be a ginormous mansion?
5) Will there be bare-knuckle fighting and exquisite clothing? On the same man, usually?
;3
I got it here (http://www.sappho.com/vintage/RussianPostcard.html), along with a numbe rof other things I've used as icon bases, including this icon. As the site says, it would have been considered HARD PORNOGRAPHY in the Soviet states. There's a nipple! Quel horreur!
*bring home-made cinnamon shortbread biscuits*
Date: 2010-09-20 05:32 pm (UTC)*is awed by the paper shuffling and trope researchery*
1) I hadn't really picked a year, but I'd like to set it during the literal Regency, although a lot of Regency Romance takes the wider 'early 19th C' definition...more so that I can use The War as a plot device than anything else, really...
2) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, brilliant question. Um. I'm going to say...all of the above? I do want to make use of the tropes of Regency Romances but wanted to go a little further along the sensuality-o-meter than Heyer...but not as far a a bodice rippoer, though...(not that I don't enjoy them from time to time!) (and not just because given the main chracters, there would be a distinct lack of bodices to rip...although I DO have plans for a Bobby inna dress caper...). I suppose 1980s/1990s era Amanda Quick would be a good comparison of what I'm aiming for?
3) Yes!
4) Yes!
5) Yes, yes, yes!?
XDDD
oooh, so much pretty...

Date: 2010-09-20 07:48 pm (UTC)1) You're gonna kill off the ward's family in the War, I suddenly predict. Am I right?
2) I have only heard of Georgette Heyer recently, and no nothing of Amanda Quick (except that she sounds like a DC character), alas. Still, middle-ground I gte.
3) Yay! \o/
4) Yay! \o/
5) Yay yay yay! *\o/*

I know. *sigh~*
Re: *loves you forever, seriously*
Date: 2010-09-23 05:54 pm (UTC)*joins in drooling*
1) Nope! Although, I suppose I could work that in, too...
2) I have this wierd thing with Heyer, where I dread reading her books, but then when I do, I find that I love them! Ahahahaha, Amanda Quick is the name that Jayne Ann Krentz writes historicals under, and they are more historicals than Regencies, now. But yeah, middle of the road and fairly spicy...
