Ahhhhh adorable Warren is adorable! 8D

So I'm watching X-Men: Evolution (season 3 episode 9) "Under Lock and Key", and there's a little bitty scene when Gambit is breaking in to Warren's mansion in the middle of the night when we see a shot of Warren's bedroom.

He stretches his wings in his sleep and makes a little nyup-nyup noise, it's SOOOOO CUUUUUUTE! *hugs him forever*

eta continuing glee: YAAAAY this is the episode with The Baseball Game ("MUTANT BALLLLLLL!!") and this is the episode where the original five X-Men from the comics get to team up. ;3 I'ma be soooo happy!

Dig that animation of clear ice-Bobby spiralling down a clear ice-pole! :D

Pyro really loves his work.

Yay Bobby being awesome! Saved Hank and Angel in one fight! :D

D8 AAAA GIANT SPIDER! ( D:::: )

Xavier and Magneto sharing a longing glance across the battlefield? Check.

Sorry, Chuckie, I'm siding with Magneto here: KILL DE SPIDER! (Don't worry, it's not a real spider. It does jump very gracefully, though.)

Okay, so far Piotr hasn't had a single line this episode, and yet that metal man-mountain is just so expressive! :O

Oh, wait -- do grunts of pain and effort count as lines? Sure, why not. Still -- SO. Expressive! 8O

Having the Australian make a pun about "down under"? FAIL.

Jeez, poor Mesmero. That's the second time he's had his mind telepathically reamed out this episode. I mean, I don't like him, but that's gotta suck.

Warren is the airborne version of those dogs that point at things.

Spider: WTF?! *flail* TK BUBBLE?! HELL NAW BITCHES!! *toes glow*

Whoa, hey, Scott, nice catch! :D

Hee hee hee, the grins of "this is fun!" Beast, Scott, and Jean make when Bobby ice-slides them over the Thames are cute. :D

Okay, stealing a double-decker bus and then looking all bright-eyed and bushy tailed as he drives it into the giant green spider (...is it growing? Hm.) earns Gambit bikkies. Or beignets. His choice.

Warren has a cute "oh shit imminent explosion!" face. :3

Uh, crud. The spider was on the side of the angels, it turns out, but now Magneto killed it and Apocalypse is 2/3rds free. Shoot! Mesmero totally clowned him! *headslap*

Well, that was enjoyable. :3

Oh! Almost forgot.

Episode tally: Slashy Moments With Warren = 2

I liked that they showed that having huge fricking wings that cansupport the weigh of multiple humans could be useful in ombat.

Yeah, although to be honest, I wish Warren had done a bit more in this episode.

Nah, considering he has no combat training he did just about enough. Granted, I wouldn't have minded watching him smack around Gambit a bit.

That's true, he's entirely self-taught. Would it have been fair, since Gambit wasn't in control of his own actions? This version of Gambit is actually growing on me.

Oh, true. Sorry, I was distracted by AWESOME BOBBY at that point. And also the terrifyingly yonic tentacle-aving elevator that Magneto had go after Mesmero. XD

Besides, Gambit's a dick anyway so any smacking around is good smacking around.

So glad Bobby got upgraded after Evan was written off.

He could have been so much cooler. *sigh*

Me too! I was so totally stoked when Bobby was included in the group of "most experienced students" that went to Egypt! :D

Not really, Gambit's entire existance is based on looking cool. The man is basically nothing but image with some stupid backstory taped on. That's why no show ever bothers focussing on him, even his stories are centered around other characters becaue there's not enough substance to him to maintain anything on his own. The only reason he lasted so long is because he attached himself to Rogue and leeched off her popularity.

It's nice that Evolution actually showed the students being awarded for improving and not just playing the 'first to show up are the most important forever' game. Jubes would have gottena promotion too if she hadn't been dragged home. She' always getting neglected.

Oh, I agree, it's just that I know that the mask was initially meant to be worn by a character I liked, and when the editors declared they couldn't do that after all, the writers had no backstory at the ready to fill the void.

I have the feeling the reason they dragged Jubes home -- and believe me, I was surprised to see her parents alive -- was because she was sych a major character in TAS. They wanted to do soemthing different. (I think they got rid of Rahne because they didn't know what to do with her.)

See, I figure it was becase they wanted to shave the cast down a bit, they had a LOT of characters in play by the end of season two (the X-men, the Recruits, the Brotherhood, the Morlocks, the Acolytes) plus all the independent forces. Someone had to go so they sent the two whose powers were the least unique (lasers and animalistic, too similar to Tabitha and Hank, whom they definitely liked better).

I love Jubilee but she IS very similar, at least on the surface, to several other characters and they couldn't actually do any of the things that gave her depth (adressing her parents' murder, making her Logan's sidekick, being the sassy new girl)they sort of wrote her into a corner of unusability and she was easy to drop after that.

Then, too, they introduced a bunch of new people after dropping a few -- I'm like one episode off from seeing Legion, for example. So it's a constant shuffle. I think your reasoning of why they kept vs. dropped who is sound.

Yeah. Jubilee is awesome sauce, but they werne't really letting her be, y'know, Jubilee.

Yeah, but they mostly made one shot characters, none of whom actually mattered in the long run. Besides, legion never made the slightest bit of sense anyway so i just pretend he never happened.

Eh, *rocks hand* I prefer comics!Pyro, because he had an interesting background and motivation. And while I like evo!Avalanche, I am somewhat miffed that we didn't get the awesome Pyro+Avelanche duo of faintly homoerotic friendship in the show that there is in the comics. Evo!Pyro is funny, but he's not very interesting to me.

Oh, he love it! He definitely lives up to his name!

Oh, totally, you can't budge on the original.

But yeah, it was a bit of a cheat on that part, I expected more. I like the way evo!Avalanche was basically comic Avalanche and Rictor.

I think he was just a bit part really, not someone you were suppost to 'watch for the plot', as it were.

I think he was iadorable. I mean, the accent? We do not sound like that, at least, not anyone I know.
And aint that the truth? :D

With the wimmen troubles of both. XD

Most of the one-offs were really not meant to be watched for the plot, and I think the writers would be surprised to know that, frex, their version of Leech spawned a big, clinical dissection of the comics!Morlocks power structure amongst my friends, or that some of us *coughmecough* cried a little when Scaleface showed up. (Damn it!)

Re: accents -- of man, I feel your pain. At least he didn't sound Irish or Dutch or something really off? I can remember watching the 90s X-Men cartoon and cringing when they had "Canadian" guest stars, like Puck. Bad enough switching "eh" with "huh", but I have lived all over this country and nobody sounds like that. *points at 90s TAS Beast* We sound like that, and a lot of the other regular cast, who were voiced by Canadians, unlike most of the characters actually meant to be Canadian. *sigh*
