Seemingly equally beloved and despised by fans, this guy is a supergenius manchild with a real flair for applied experimental physics and engineering, and not a lot of luck with the female of the species.

... Although he did somehow manage to bag Keller who's way way way way way out of his league, so maybe "and not a lot of luck with the female of the species" isn't completely true. Manchild is 100% accurate though!

You'll have to pardon me, but I never thought Keller was much of a catch -- probably because early inconsistant writing of her character made me suspicious of her, and I sometimes find myself wistfully trying to imagine what it would have been like if she had been, oh, an agent of The Trust or something.

Meanwhile, Wesley had more luck with girls than Geordi did... But Geordi was still too mature to be a manchild, so he didn't make the list. ;3

I don't like Keller, but objectively speaking she is a catch. ... As long as you're into Mary-Sues.

Ick. Well, I know several guys in the cast and the crew said Jewel's "the hottest woman in sci-fi"... and if I'd been Rachel or Amanda, I think I would have kicked them.

I agree, and the inconsistencies are exactly why. I'd be deeply suspicious of someone whose character was so changeable, and who seemed determined to change me in small and large ways to make me 'acceptable' to them. Frankly, anyone - man or woman - is better off uninvolved, than tied to someone like that.

Keller after Brown is especially terrible, although I can see why McKay made the mistake. (And it is a mistake.) Katie's reaction to finding out that Rodney thought he needed to change to be "good enough" for her was to immediately realise that he didn't know what she wanted -- because she loved him as he was. (I'm not confident that she 100% knew who he was, of course, but then, neither did he.) Keller immediately snatched him up and started trying to change him, and since he thought he needed to change, well.

Suspiciously good timing, that.

Damn it, she would have been more interesting if she'd been a spy!

This is a trick question--

McKay isn't despised, and Wesley isn't loved. X3

Lies! XD

No, really, there are people who despise McKay on my f-list, and God knows I loved Wesley when the show first aired.
