Title: Last Quarter Found?
series: Andorians
summary: How Jhæss met H'rov. (Pre-Galaxy.)

Jhæss met H'rov when station security responded to an emergency call. H'rov had, through use of his computer programming prowess, made a number of adjustments to his employer's office.

Firstly, the man couldn't get out. The door would not respond to anything done to it from the inside. Secondly, the food replicator would only provide the basics -- nutritious, necessary, unusually bland. This had actually been the first thing H'rov's employer noticed, when he ordered his usual fancy morning coffee-based drink and got something much less toothsome. Thirdly, his computer console would, no matter what he tried to do, only let him access the file necessary to post notification of an open receptionist position to the local employment net.

H'rov had done all of that. When security arrived, he had been sitting at the reception desk, nibbling a pastry and listening to a symphonic recording that mostly blotted out the muffled shouts from the office door behind him. He defended his actions as being a simple demonstrative reminder of the skills for which he had actually been hired. He'd been stuck "filling in" as a receptionist for nearly two months, and had proof that his boss wasn't looking for someone to hire to that position, despite his claims to the contrary.

Never try to lie to someone who can look at any computer record in your system. Furthermore, never get on the bad side of an Andorian.

When Jhæss told this story to his lady friends, Shallan made approving noises over H'rov's measures, while Sril wagged her antennae mirthfully.

"You," the latter told Jhæss, "have a type."

He didn't try to deny it.
