eliyes: (McCoy is love)

So, over the weekend the Space station (yes, we have a channel called Space, it is the Space station damn it) marathon'd the Star Trek movies in preparation for the Canadian premiere of the remastered original series today (and it's about damn time!)

I caught the very end of The Motion Picture on Saturday, then watched The Wrath of Khan, which is truly awesome. The next day, the marathon started way way earlier, so I managed to watch The Search For Spock and The Voyage Home, break for a late lunch during Final Frontier (which, despite the camping scenes and the riding horses and the riding Spock and the Uhura dance number, I didn't particularly want to see) and come back and watch most of The Undiscovered Country. (I had to leave before it was over, alas.)

Excuse me while I sit over here shining with love. Love, I say!

I'm going to call my bitty 'puter Chekov, I think.

If anyone wants to babble about these movies with me, feel free to start a comment thread, I WILL BE ONLY TOO HAPPY TO OBLIGE YOU.

I've always been drawn to the Southern characters (for obvious reasons;) but with De it's just the whole package. He was a true sweetheart who created a lovable character that was our way in, as an audience. He's the one going "wait, this is crazy!" while Kirk and Spock were making these insane plans :D

Make these reasons more obvious to me? :o

He is a sweetheart. A lot of people seem to play up the "cranky" thing, but he's not, really. He just grouses a lot. And likes arguing with Spock. And has a temper, although he forgives as easily... He's the heart, he really is. And De was a total sweetheart.

I love the moment in The Voyage Home when he catches on that Spock is suggesting time travel and reaches around him to point at Kirk and go, "Now wait just a damn minute--!" Kirk ignores him, of course.

Because...I'm Southern :P

I love his and Spock's friendship. They have a deep respect for one another. And Spock gave him his katra, which McCoy kept it safe, and it meant alot to him (even if it was against his will at the time;)

ME TOO! Love, love, love that scene :D The triad of Star Trek is always a treat. Kirk and Spock and McCoy, it works because of all the elements and every part if necessary. The daring, the logic, and the heart--all wonderful.

I'm thinking of making a comparison chart, episode writers and directors and how well they were getting along. Lot of ups and downs in the episodes.

Pfft, I have neither cable or satellite -- but the lobby TVs at work have cable, and conveniently I am able to change the channels. ;3 Hence having to leave before the end of ST6; my shift was over.
