I watched Ghostbusters today. Oh, how I love that movie. It's always nice to refresh my memory of how Egon is a violent freak. I mean, I never forget the freak part -- how can I? His first line is in defense of wanting to drill into his own head with a power tool. But I forget little details like him attacking Peck in the middle of a crowd of cops, with his face all RAR. Or the way he rolled his eyes and patted Janine's shoulder when she said she was afraid he would die and hugged him. Or his happy crazy face when he's telling all the jailbirds about a human sacrifice cult.

Oh, Dr. Spengler. ♥

He was considerable toned down for the cartoon, but he did get possessed on occasion with hilarious results, and tended to go right into trouble with a "For SCIENCE!" enthusiasm that was scary.

They were all considerably toned down for the cartoon. Venkman was less skeexy, Egon was less crazy, and Ray was less... Ray.

Ray was less reckless -- still as enthusiastic, though. I mean, in the first episode he's so cheerful and excited about the entire city turning *evil*. Winston looks like he wants to hit him. :)

Yeah, they didn't skimp on the Winston-wants-to-hit-these-people-especially-Ray, that's for sure and certain. X3

Ghostbusters is a good movie. It's funny, genuinely scary in parts and has Signourney Weaver. Having her in your movie automatically improves it by at least two points on the scale of 1 to 10.

That part where she's in the chair and the demon arms rip through and grab her still freaks me out. Not even the fact that one of the hands is clearly grabbing one of her boobs can unscarify it!

We block it be cause it's traumatic, and then it gets us all over again next viewing.

The memory of the other demon dog chasing the guy through the city always overwrites my memory of poor Sigourney.

I'm ashamed when I think of how many years it took me to realize SW was actually in the movie.

It's the Zuul make-up. You probably thought Dana was played by Tim Curry.

There's a damned good reason why that sick-twisted-freak (and I love him for it) was the head writer. Ghostbusters was pretty much his brain-child. He wrote for a lot of comedy movies back then, with mostly SNL alumni as the cast, 'cause well, they're his buddies.

I watched Elvira Mistress of the Dark as my little Halloween-time movie. It's been a very long time, and it's always good to catch those old jokes I didn't understand when I was young, and to see just what they got away with back then in a regular "Rated R".

I haven't seen that movie since I was thirteen. Actually, I wasn't allowed to watch the whole thing then. :<

*...goes to look for it.*
