I'm really glad that this supposed tie-in with "Divided We Stand" didn't seem it at all, because I picked up an issue and flipped through it in the store, and then set it down and vowed to never stray from my chosen books again.

So, here's some things about X-Factor #30.

Things that surprised me:
THE CLIENT ISN'T QUICKSILVER! :O Wow, I didn't even consider that guy. Huh. Nice to see The Messiah Complex having some repercussions other than Layla being missing.
Dude, the baby-whore that looks like Layla got fried crispy. Gruesome!
So far, no sign at all that Terry decided to tell the dupe instead of Jamie.

Things that confused me:
Okay, honestly, how did Ric's great escape work? Why did the wood break? How did blocking the edge of the blade with wood strapped to the back of his leg not end with Ric's leg having a big hole in it? How did he even manage the angle required to block it? And how did that get the rest of him loose? I can't make sense of this.

Things that narked me
Sooo... WHY, exactly, is Monet now CAUCASION? She has the same skin-tone as Jamie throughout this issue!

MONET IS NOT WHITE! Yeesh. What, does she have to have a Misty Knight-style 'fro for the colourists to remember this?!
Speaking of skin... Why doesn't Arcade have any freckles? I mean, I appreciate that the Arcade we're seeing is 99% likely to be a robot duplicate, but even so -- it's just not Arcade without the freckles! D:

I was glad to see Ric taking a proactive role, despite it all. And I'm getting really tired of Jamie's narration. He actually made a couple of jokes in this issue, which is quite a switch up -- and that should tell you something.
