It's all right to use 'alright'!

alright: *prances merrily to join it's brethren: already, altogether, always, also, although, and almost* :D :D :D

I dislike "alright." I don't disagree that it's a word, but I steer towards "all right." I guess I would have to agree with whatshisface. I think "alright" is ugly.

I like it, myself. :3 But it's just interesting either way to see arguments about words. At least, as an ex-Linguistics Major, I think it is. ^^;

*lol* Oh my goodness. :3 It was hard enough to train my brain to keep it to "all right" *lol*

But it was only a few months ago that I trained myself to type "all right" and not "alright"! =O *chews on words*

Yay! I dislike using "all right" instead of "alright." It doesn't seem to fit what I mean, for some reason.

Dictionaries which simply crossreference alright to all right (as the “proper” form) typically underrepresent its various shades of meaning as a discourse symbol. It may be concessive, as in Alright, I’ll come with you—or diffident, as in How’re things? Oh alright—or impatient as in Alright, alright!. None of these senses are helpfully written as all right, which injects the distracting sense of “all correct.”
