So I watched the first episode of X-Men: Evolution this morning. Even though I know the animation will actually get a little smoother, the quality so far is pretty good. The soundtrack is wicked, by which I mean people grunt when they exert themselves physically, there's background noise, layered crowd stuff, the whole nine yards. We see Todd waiting outside the Principal's office, deliberately squeaking his shoes on the floor, and when he walks in, there's still little squeaks. I was impressed.

But Todd. Oh, Todd. The voice actor is awesome. The constant broken off sentences, trying to sound tough during his"audition", the scream of terror, the way he totally doesn't know how to sound friendly and instead comes off like he's sleazily hitting on Scott? It's all gold, man.

And Scott! <3 "C'mon, Professor! I'm packing a bazooka behind each eye! What do you want from me?!" I am experiencing an emotion. It might be love.

For some reason, my brain keeps trying to mix Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends into this. Just Aurora. Just for some backstory. And then add the Beaubier twins. Man, JM would light a fire under Quicksilver, mock him for being groundbound, and then JP would probably KO him for, like, upsetting his sister. The thought is so... heart-warming. >3

Code Geass is a fast-paced and exciting show featuring diabolical high school students, international war and intrigue, and lollerskating mecha. They do hinting well -- I can guess that something is up, but have yet to figure out what. That's good hinting. Subtle foreshadowing, that sort of thing. There was a scene where Lelouche and Suzaku are each explaining themselves, completing one another's sentences even though they're not in the same place, and I love that kind of thing. Motivations so very similar, directed in different ways.

In Gurren Lagann, we finally got to the prison scenes! And Yoko! The first of the "7 years later" post-skip episodes left me kinda cold, I will admit, but it picks up right after that. I am more in love with Carrot Kittan than ever, and wish someone had dropped the Tepperin on Rossiu back in the day. What a DICKHEAD. Also, Leeron is SO SMART. :D AND KEITE*! THE ENGINEER CHICK! I want to be her when I grow up, man.

*Possibly her name is Reite. I SUCK at remembering her name.

I'm glad, because Prof X needs some polishing. His accent keeps changing, and he did this really inappropriate thing with his eyebrow at Wolverine at one point! :O

They really put a lot of thought into the animation on Xmen-Evo. All the characters have their own unique stride, and clearly defined personalities -- even Prof. Xavier gets a sense of humor and mischief.

And in second season, you get Angel and Beast :D

Well, I'm trying. I actually stumbled on the first episode online by complete fluke when looking for som$ething else. In fact, it was marked as a fanvid. I figured what the hell, I'd watch it, and it turned out to be the first eppy! :D (This is the Internet Gods trying to distract me from Spider-Friends so as to spare my brain the last episode.)

Bear in mind that the last season has not be released on DVD.

Everything I know about Drake Bell, I learned from poisonivory (http://poisonivory.livejournal.com/275229.html#cutid1). That's a big picspam essay on the show Drake and Josh, for which Drake Bell (who plays Drake Parker) wrote and performed the theme song, FOUND A WAY. And where we have the connection. XD

Heh, I wondered if that was it. *also has learnt from poisonivory, although only stuff of the reading-it-in-passing variety*

Ooh, I've caught a coule of eps of X-Men: Evolution, but this post just reminded me that I'd been meaning to actually put in the effort and watch it properly.

This: the way he totally doesn't know how to sound friendly and instead comes off like he's sleazily hitting on Scott may or may not have had a lot to do with pushing me in the right direction. Hee!

I've friended you - is that alright?
