My best friend is getting married! :D (Don't worry, peeps, no gift spoilers here; safe for soon-to-bes to read.) As such, I could use some advice, and so I turn to you, my flist. I figure someone out there might have a grasp of these esoterically girly matters beyond my ken.
To whit: cosmetics.
I'll be staying with my parents, and I know for a fact that my mother is the type to hold me down and paint my face. She's done it before. She's even sat on me to hold me still. I figure I might head her off at the pass if I already have make-up planned.
You see, I don't normally wear make-up. ^^; This is partially naturalineptitude inclination, and strongly reinforced by my job, which discourages wearing it whilst in uniform. I also inevitably cry at weddings: there's just something about two people vowing to spend their lives with one another that plays a symphony with my heartstrings. This is my best friend's wedding, so you can bet the tears will flow.
So, obstacles: tears will make eye & cheek make-up run, and I'm pale and blotch when I bawl. I'll also probably be too excited to sleep much the night before and therefore have dark circles under my eyes.
I'm thinking that I should mainly avoid eye make-up, especially mascara. I'd like to wear some foundation, though, because I have this idea that I can use it to cover up the blotchiness after the ceremony. I mean, I'm sure people will understand why I'd be emotional, but it would be nice if I could look nice. Especially in case of photos.
(I certainly can't be the only one intending on taking lots of photos.)
So any make-up type advice would be most heartily welcomed! Like, what's a good (and available in Canada) brand of foundation? Will the liquid stuff sting tear-stained cheeks more than powder, or vice versa?
Probably my mother will still be involved in this, but if I have the cosmetics with me and a plan, she might let me have my way.
Otherwise it's "Oh, my little Spice Girl!" all over again.
Christmas formal. Don't ask.
