There's this trend, and I thought it was limited to slash fandom, but I was wrong.

Today there's an article on MSN called "Why I love my Alpha wife: A beta male on his breadwinning bride".

Now, we all know this is a pack hierarchy reference, yes? Wolves? Dominance? All that fun stuff?

ALPHAS MATE WITH ALPHAS. A pack has an Alpha male and an Alpha female and they are in charge.

I think the "Alpha and Beta" paradigm arose in fandom as an extension of the whole dom/sub, seme/uke thing, which I hate. Equals are much more stimulating!
