life update

So, my uncle died yesterday of cancer. When I say "uncle" I mean "husband of one of my father's many sisters". I hadn't actually known he had cancer. They aren't having a service for him (which would be tough for me to get to anyway, since it would be in Ontario and I am not, and I can classes and work), but they are having him cremated and possibly my aunt will be coming east to spread his ashes in the Shediac River. Mom's keeping me posted. I'm not sure if I should be sending a condolence card to my cousins and aunt or what. What do you do?

I have a midterm tomorrow and a paper due for the same course on Wednesday, and I am woefully unprepared.

I have a headache that just does not want to go away, although I did some stretches last night that seemed to help for a while.

I need to find some place locally that carries Ben & Jerry's The Gobfather ice cream. The local cornerstore had it and got me hooked, but now they don't, and neither does the grocery store, and dammit I want some.

I suppose you could ask the local stores to order some? Most are quite willing to order requested items.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Since going up is out of the question, I think you should send a card. Either send it up to Ontario and to your mom's place if your aunt is bringing the ashes down. They are always appreciated. If that doesn't seem right, you could always donate some money in his name to a cancer research foundation.

Good luck with your midterm and paper. Drink lots of water, it should help with the headache, and I hope you find your ice cream somewhere near by.

It's possible my parents are already sending a card with my name on it to Aunt Ellen and my cousins. I'll check with them, since I'd have to get an address from them anyway.

Thanks for the luck! I went into the midterm really prepared, but I ran out of time and so I had to cut my second essay short and rush through my third essay. I think if we'd had a full exam period instead of a class period, or only had to do one essay for the first question instead of two, I would have done better. But at least I know the material! And if I write half as much for my paper as I actually got on the midterm, I'll have enough for it. I just have to be sure not to ramble.

Although damn, that was a good essay on Djoser's mortuary complex, even if I do so say myself. *huffs on fingernails and polishes them on shirt*
