I just watched "Lower Decks" and bawled. So tiny! And brave!

Now I need cheering up. *turns to Neelix in his oft-entertaining harrasment/attempts to "cheer up" Tuvok*

NEELIX: Happy Kal Rekk, Mister Vulcan!
TUVOK: The holiday of Kal Rekk is not for two weeks.
NEELIX: But it's the Kal Rekk season.
TUVOK: There is no Kal Rekk season. Kal Rekk is a day of atonement, solitude and silence.
NEELIX: Atonement. Solitude. All your Vulcan holidays are the same. I've been doing some research, I know.
TUVOK: Why would you need to do research on Vulcan holidays?
NEELIX: It's part of my job as morale officer.
TUVOK: Morale is irrelevant to a Vulcan.
NEELIX: Oh, please! There's no one on this ship requires my services more than you do. I will not rest until I see you smile.
TUVOK: Then you will not rest.
NEELIX: I don't suppose you've ever heard of the Vulcan Rumarie?
TUVOK: The Rumarie is an ancient pagan festival.
NEELIX: Full of barely clothed Vulcan men and women covered in slippery Rillan grease, chasing one another.
TUVOK: That has not been observed for a millennium.
NEELIX: Well it's time to bring it back!
TORRES [OC]: Lieutenant Tuvok, report to engineering immediately.
TUVOK: Acknowledged.
NEELIX: I've been thinking of a Rumarie theme for the mess hall next week. Lots of high fat, greasy foods, and if people want to take of their clothes and chase one another it certainly wouldn't hurt morale around here.

...You know, Tuvok is rather self-centered when it comes to Neelix's Vulcan studies, just assuming they're to do exclusively with him. I mean mainly they are, yes, but there are at least two other Vulcans on board!

I liked Neelix, when he wasn't macking on Kes. I only followed Voyager for a few seasons, but that relationship disturbed me.

I can still remember Neelix's famed hair pasta, made from real hair. :D

I didn't like the age difference. Somehow, relationships which involve someone with a human lifespan and someone with a much longer one -- like Spock's parents, or K'Ehleyr's parents -- doesn't bother me, but where Kes would have been no older than a child... Even though by her people's standards she was an adult, it seemed weird to me.

Which was probably how Vulcans felt about Sarek and Amanda, really.

I confess I don't much like Kes. She was even more of a "space elf" than any Vulcan could be, and the "innocent and therefore wise" schtick they had going with her bugged me some of the time. So when she and Neelix split up, I really started like Neelix better!

I can still remember Neelix's famed hair pasta, made from real hair. :D

Oh, man! XD I had totally forgotten the hair pasta!
