Overall Thoughts:
I tried to expand my fic-writing to more of the things I'm a fan of this year, which meant less focus on the things I wrote a lot for last year, but overall I think I'm pretty happy with it. Except for not getting my winter boostlethon done and slacking off re: prompt tables.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
More than I thought, YES. Although I think I began the year with a goal to write more, so good job there. About what I predicted, only for a few months. Chekov seems to have derailed me about halfway through the year, and of course my fannish tastes are all over the place and that's reflected in what I wrote.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
The Andorians thing was a total surprise. I literally had fic started within an hour of coming up with the idea, but it was like my brain ambushed itself. I also wouldn't have predicted I'd write Kon/Lar, but I really enjoyed it and should eventually post the stuff in my notebooks. ^^;
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Oh, God, I can't decide. I like a bunch of 'em. I wrote a lot of friendship fic this year, which makes me happy.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I wrote het! :O More than once! It had been a long time since I'd done that, and I didn't so much learn as remember that writing a scene is WAY easier when the people in it have different gendered pronouns. Also I did those "lost" or "five things" formats, which turned out to be easier than I expected, and I wrote matching stories from different perspectives which I was very satisfied with, although I got no feedback whatsoever on them so they might not be all that good.
From my past year of writing, what was...
My best story of this year:
ARRRRRGH posssibly ATBOI or Nine-tenths, sheerly for composition and clear narrative of action, I think? Or Turbulence? I DO NOT KNOW. FEEL FREE TO TELL ME.
My most popular story of this year:
Probably In Demand, iirc it had the most commentors (if that's how such things are judged).
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I refuse to answer this on the grounds that it would sound whiny.
Most fun story to write:
Either William Shatner, or Zonked. :3 They were just superfast, I didn't have to do hardly anything! X3
Story with the single sexiest moment:
Secret Recipe. *snicker*
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
I don't believe I had one this year. ;3
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Canker. Even though it's an AU, it started as something about the character that I took to extremes, but by the time I was finished with it, I didn't really see it as possible. Oh well; at least I got to work that out.
Hardest story to write:
Of the ones I actually managed to post? In Demand. There's large sections scribbled out in my first draft; part of the middle was difficult to pin down, but thank God when I got past it, everything went much more smoothly.
Biggest Disappointment:
RSVP and When He Smiles. I haven't found my NCIS voice, and it shows.
Biggest Surprise:
It Came On Fast -- look, I can write from Sam Carter's pov after all! :O
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Overwhelmed.
