I liked it a lot. I missed a bit where I really desperately need to use the washroom (which was at the other end of the long building argh -- I sprinted) during which I'm pretty sure a redshirt died. But yeah, it was awesome. What was also awesome was that the people in the theatre were also clearly getting at least as many of the in-jokes as I was.
Every line that was from the original series or movies -- especially coming out of Bones' mouth -- got a laugh. Except the one in my icon, and I'm not sure how anyone else reacted to that, because I was too busy clutching my hands to my heart. But the thing with the Kobayashi Maru test -- I just read that book recently. XD Actually, I read and reread it in two days. Especially Sulu's part. So that being in there was fabulous.
There were a load of Pike fanboys present, which was sort of cool.
The guy at the end of the row who was sobbing through the "Tell me what you need" scene was a bit wtf. The Spock/Uhura thing I totally enjoyed, though, since in canon she always seemed to have a crush on him, and I always thought their friendship had potential.
What is Kirk better at, folks? Getting choked by pointy-eared bastards or hanging from stuff by his fingertips? :D Eh? Eh? Anyone? ;D
I think the first moment when I realised how much I was going to love this film was before we even saw George Kirk -- when the ship was hit and there was a woman in the corridor, and she started screaming and trying to grab hold of something -- and then when she's sucked out into vacuum, everything goes silent except the musical score. I'm pretty sure I said, "Oh."
And I cried when George died. Actually, there was enough stuff between that and seeing the bar fight, I'm not sure if it was the same actor for both Kirks. ETA FOR KIFFIE: You know the lady doctor who delivered the baby? With the big eyes? Shotakari eyes are like that. Except their heads are also a little bigger. I'm pretty sure I did not actually squee to see it, but...
And I lovelovelove Kirk's relationship with Bones.
Overall, a riproaringly fun, action-packed, and sometimes tear-jerking movie. I am tempted to go see it again before work tomorrow, except there's no way I have time. XD
Also, it's been so long since I went to see something, I was shocked by how comfortably padded my seat was. And it was as high as my head! And it could lean back holyshit -- :O

Date: 2009-05-13 04:32 am (UTC)It was only Olsen. He was a dumbass. XD

And this is awesome.
...when the ship was hit and there was a woman in the corridor, and she started screaming and trying to grab hold of something...
For some reason, that scene made me really, really sad. I don't normally feel much for redshirts, but DAMN. ;_;
...I'm not sure if it was the same actor for both Kirks.
Don't think so. George had a deeper voice and a broader face. I could IMDB it, but I'm lazy. X3

:D :D :D
I loved that doctor. She looked so neat.
And I lovelovelove Kirk's relationship with Bones.
"I can fix that!" *STAB*
"STOP THAT!" >:O

*snugs* Because we would have been screaming and scrabbling for something to hold onto, too. It looked like a scientific vessel to me...

Different guys. Both named Chris, though!
Incidentally, Memory Alpha doesn't have the movie cast list up -- I went there before IMDb and got distracted by the trivia section for the movie. XD I thought the thing with kirk trying to find out Uhura's first name was cute because I only ever learned it from books -- but I figured I'd missed it in the show at some point, I didn't know it had never been said on screen! XD
:D :D :D

She was pretty cool. I wonder what species she was? ':3c

YES! XD That was so great, how he kept stabbing him in the neck. And he was all sneaky and stuff, and chasing him around he ship with hyposprays and stabbing him when he trying to talk to people. XD Ahhhh Bones ~ ♥
One of my co-workers has the novel The Better Man at the office; I'ma read it this week. :3 It's Bones and a rival doctor from his school days, and a little Bones sprogling girl critter! :o

Date: 2009-05-13 05:55 am (UTC)Probably Olsen, as kiffie mentioned. I was on the lookout for him because he's played by Greg Ellis, aka the guy in my icon.
But the thing with the Kobayashi Maru test -- I just read that book recently.
I assume you mean the TOS novel and not the Enterprise novel, yes?
And I lovelovelove Kirk's relationship with Bones.
YES.

Date: 2009-05-13 06:02 am (UTC)I think it was! It was the engineer guy. I never even saw his face. XD
...Also, I always thought the guy in your icon was Adrian Paul. ^^; eta: Even though I think you've actually told me otherwise, and comparing our icons I see that Paul's got really noticeably thicker eyebrows.
I assume you mean the TOS novel and not the Enterprise novel, yes?
Yep. I don't watch, read, or even much think about Enterprise, me. I missed the in-joke with Admiral Archer's beagle, frex -- Memory Alpha helpfully pointed it out -- although that story was funny without knowing. X3 Oh, Scotty. ♥ Apparently the lads and lasses and other sentient beens over at Memory Alpha feel that the Kobayashi Maru ref was off of the scene in Wrath of Khan. In fact, they're pointing out a lot of similarities between the two. I only sort of remember that movie -- for me, there's the one with the whales and then all the other ones as a sort of amorphous lump...
