Character Meme: Saionji Kyouichi

1. Do you like this character?

Short answer: Yes I do! ♥

Long answer: Funny story, actually. Initially I disliked him, which is only natural since he's the first recognizable antagonist of the show. But I gave him points for smacking Anthy. (YES. That was a good thing! I wanted to smack her myself, and that was before the plot was revealed.) And I gave him points for being pathetically funny re: the exchange diary. And then I gave him woobie points for being betrayed by his best friend, and for just all kinds of things. He kept racking up points! By the end of the series, he was pretty much my favourite character. (I am also unusually fond of Nanami.)

The manga version (manga Pod) is less lovable, partially because at the end he's actually Chuchu (they don't get switched back in the manga), and the movie version (movie Pod) is Big Und Scary, but in the end, honorable and helpful.

So. I likes 'im. :3


2. What name/s do you call this character?

The Pod! :D Because, see, everyone in Utena has a plant-related name. Saionji (West garden temple) Kyouichi (pod one). Pod pod! Pod pod pod pod, pod. ;3

I also call him Kyou, which started with a particular version I roleplay (older, successful author of romantic historical fiction under a pseudonym, works as a bartender, generally much calmer) and bled over into other versions. And also it's the part that means "Pod". ;3


3. What image-color do you associate with character?

Dark green-gold. The colour of his hair. I have seen it on cars. I call it "Pod green". :D


4. What image-song do you associate with character?

Virtual Star Embryology. You have to understand that the series actually has image songs. They play during the duels. Each duel has a different song. That's one of his, and also one of my favourite songs from the series.

We get into trickier ground if I start separating by version, especially since I've got that one who's a huge fan of a) metal! and b) political satire music from around the world.


5. What blood-type do you think this character is?

He's type O, officially, which seems pretty much perfect to me. Creative, outgoing, etc.? Check. Rude, doesn't always finish what he starts? Check.


6. Of all of the titles to that this character appears in, what character do you like to put this character with?

*shifty look* Uh.... It depends. I have, in past, put him with Mikage Souji, and with Shinohara Wakaba, and with a rather broken Kiryuu Touga. So! It depends.


7. What would you want to say to this character?

Oh, Lord, so many things. Depends on timing, mostly.

I'd really like to ask what the hell he was doing frying eggs in the forest in the middle of the night, that time...


8. Which do you want to do with this character: Shake hands, hug or kiss?

Hug! Glomp-tackle, actually, otherwise he'd dodge. XD Maybe slip him a collapsible snorkle while I'm there.
