You know, I love the SGA episode "The Shrine", I really do, but there's one nit I have to pick that would have basically not have it happen if the writers had stuck with their own logic. The Stargate can't engage if there's something blocking the inner surface of the ring, so it has been said. I'd like to think that all that water would have counted.

*drive-by comment!* Water don't seem to count actually. I think I remember more episodes where they went swimming, so to speak. At least there was that one with the Russians and the sub and water-spirit-creatures that possessed people, in SG-1?

Er, possibly? I didn't watch SG-1.

By that logic, it would never engage -- there's always air.

Plus-- What if it were really foggy? That's like water. X3

What if it were raining really hard? Okay, so not water. What if it snowed a lot and a drift half-buried the thing? Probably still work. What if it iced over? It didn't work in a glacier. Basically this is not clear. B
