01. reply to this post and I will pick six of your icons.
02. make a post and talk about the icons I chose.
03. other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
04. this will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.
1)
bash my head in
I love Weird Al. It's therefore not surprising that I have an icon from his movie, UHF. Plus, the sentiment is pretty much perfect for those moments when I have well and truly fucked up, or otherwise want to be put out of my misery.
2)
baby Freckle
I'd already been stalking Tracy J. Butler's art online for a few years when she began the delightful comic, Lackadaisy Cats. Rumrunning gangster cat people! Weirdo rumrunning gangster cat people! Freckle is just one of the many lovable characters from this comic, but he holds a special place in my heart, because he looks and acts a lot like my cat (right down to the seeming split personality; I'm not shaving her face to check for a freckle, though).
And sometimes, you just want to run away. This is a good way of reflecting that.
3)
Scott icon
"The long-awaited Scott icon!" says the icon description, which may cause you to suspect that there's a bit of a story to this one. And there is, it's just hard to explain. Bare bones:
taichara inundated me with old, awesome X-Men comics until I started to really like characters who were not nearly so likable when I got into the comics, and consequently, I came to like Scott. He really has some good moments. He even goes batshit in an entertaining way! Although his hallucinations aren't as funny as Batman's, but Batman was being force-fed drugs, so that's an unfair advantage.
...I got off-topic somewhere in there (although parallels with how I came to love Silver Age Batman could definitely be made).
The picture I used to make this is far more recent and not from a phase where Scott's being quite so awesome (sleeping with Emma, Scott? Really? I mean, she's not even a redhead! And she's probably a Skrull! And she's EMMA FROST! WTF, man?!) ...but it was kinda nice lookin', so I used it. I may swap him out, someday, but considering how long I was saying I'd make a Scott icon before I made this, it's not likely to be any time soon.
4)
brisk sea breeze
Prince Eric isn't actually my favourite Disney prince (that honour goes to Prince Philip), but The Little Mermaid is just One Of Those Movies for me. Also, I'm fairly certain that I was working the Tallships event at the time. Yay sailing! :D
5)
Dandy
I hope no one here is surprised to discover that I love the Scarlet Pimpernel. The 1982 movie, with Anthony Andrews as Percy, Jane Seymour as Marguerite, and Ian McLellan (sp?) as Chauvelin, was the first iteration I was ever exposed to, and still my favourite. I've come to know and love various other versions -- the Leslie Howard Pimpernel is elsewhere in my icons, in fact -- but Andrews is Percy, for me. If you haven't seen it, well, I can't recommend it enough.
6)
AUGH
Did you know there's a Supernatural comic out now? Starring John Winchester, back when the boys were really only boys? He made this awesome face. I don't even watch the show, but I had to have an icon. I mean, c'mon -- look at that face!
