I've been trying to think of ways to avoid it, but sometimes I'm like "but if they cook with it" and "but if I get a smoothie and they make it with ice instead of frozen fruit and don't tell me"...

Cooking, by definition, would sanitize the water.
Ice and smoothies, however... yes, that is a concern. :/

Everything thin the resort used bottled water.
Except the toilets and pools. They used filtered water.
