Okay, so, last night I had a string of dreams like a pearl necklace, each one flush with its neighbour and so very similar, until it all formed one big whole. Or so it seems.
Highlights:
Philippe - during the first session of the reunion part of the dream, everyone else was in another room having fun while Phil and I stayed elsewhere and I wrote a letter to my family. He looked kinda haggard and un-Phil-like, actually. I asked him why he (Mr. Popularity) was hanging around me instead of partying with everyone else, and he said it was because he used to have a crush on me. I literally banged my head on my desk, and then confessed that I had a crush on him until I actually had to deal with him on a daily basis and he was a giant jerk, and we talked about that for a bit and then agreed to go join the party.
Pam H - Why was Pam in my dream? Why was she so tall? Why did she keep coming up behind me and hugging my protectively? I mean, it was kind of nice - she was doing the protective thing very well - but Pam and I were never particularly close, so it made no sense...
Neen & Missy - Neen especially was there whenever someone else from the past was confusing the heck out of me drawing me away from Phil to feed me, making sure she and Missy got in the same cab as me and Pam, emailing me when I was in Newfoundland...
Newfoundland was like a crazy magical place. The coast had been dammed in a very weird way so that somehow they managed to keep ocean around them at higher levels than the rest of the ocean but still had a tide, and thus massive waterfalls. Imagine if the entire island were surrounded by Niagara Falls. Also, there was a huge ivory tower in the middle of it which I wasn't allowed to visit and could only see from a certain part of the shore. Also also, there were morbid paintings of chained young men whose wings were skeletal and hand maybe a few feathers, with charred-black upside down screaming skeletons hanging from trees all around them. This had something to do with the tower.
My various aunts got me onto the plane away (pulling me away from playing in the shore falls with one of my younger cousins and plotting ways to get at the tower. The plane quickly became a hospital, and there was this asian family in one room. At first it seemed like they had just had a baby, but then it turned out to be about the father's sick mother. Ages fluctuated wildly, and he was very abusive of his ill mother, which lead to me trying to guilt him, or at least make him stop because otherwise he would arrested. My mother was around, but completely no help at all despite being a nurse, because she was giddy and at least one person told me they thought she was drunk.
Anyway, the abusive-of-the-elderly guy tried to escape into other parts of the hospital/cabin, but every cat I have ever known stopped him. He retreated to the room we were in and locked himself in with us, at which point he discovered that two of my (deceased in real life) cats were in the room and not well pleased with him. He tried to learn magic to escape, throwing fireballs and summoning dragons, but he wasn't very good at it.
I left him to my parents and the authorities to deal with and tried to make my way home. I hurried down a street that only exists in my dreams and fortunately did not seem to have anything to do with 1920s spy novel plots this time, avoiding the area where some store was clearly moving out and accidentally entering a comic shop that was closed for the day. I also avoided the arcades. Anyway, I heard some shouting behind me, and looked back to discover a whole bunch of people from the reunion running up the sidewalk and the buses we were supposed to catch - last ones of the night, it was very dark - that were supposed to stop just around the corner. As the one closest to the corner, I pelted around it -- but there was a woman blocking the road and the buses couldn't get in.
She was standing next to a horse and there was a one-person coach hooked to the beast, with it's seat quite a bit higher than the horse's head. I couldn't figure out it could possibly stay balanced. Anyway, bit of a confrontation there. Apparently we were too loud. She wanted to do an "anthropological" experiment to keep us quiet, which angered me, because that's not what Anthropology is for at all, and so I told Pam when she wrapped herself around me and glared at the woman. For some reason I had a pair of underwear I recently threw away* in my hand, and these became our flag of resistance as a bunch of us started shouting at the woman. The bus drivers gave up and left at this point, so a lot of us milled abut and talked about a monkey that apparently we all went to high school with and how Babe Ruth went to my university but did not play baseball there, apparently. Right.
Finally, I hailed a cab, and me (and Pam), Neen, Missy, KatF, K.T., and several others impossibly piled in. I had to tell several people there was no more room, unfortunately. I settled into the cab and nobody even had time to tell the driver where we were going when this klaxon started sounding. Everyone in the car and out of it looked up, expecting, I dunno, enemy planes? Something. It was that kind of alarm Then Neen reached past Pam and poked me.
"That's your alarm, silly."
So, I got up. Thanks, Neen!
* I guess I miss them? They were awesomely stripy, but after the whirlwind that is my cat noticed a loose thread, they also had a huuuuuge hole in the side, basically one entire seam gone and anyway, you don't need this much detail about my panties.
