1) Are there any fandoms that everyone but you seems to be interested in? If so, which ones and what's your reason for not jumping on the bandwagon?

Naruto springs to mind. I'm just not interested. There are other examples, and of course there I things I adore that my firends don't. Everyone has different tastes, eh?

2) When you read fan fiction, do you tend to prefer one genre over another (especially romance/shippy fics versus friendship/gen)?

I like humour, drama, romance... Basically as long as it's well-written and isn't angst or non-con (and non-con that's not angst flat-out scares me) I might read it. I am currently in a slashy place, but I'll be honest: there were a couple of years where I flat-out refuses to read slash, even though I had read it before and have now come back to it. It's difficult to explain my preferences, since they change with mood, time, and fandom.

3) When you do ship in a fandom, do you find your favourite couples are ones that exist in canon, don't exist but have plenty of subtext, or don't exist/never will/will break up an existing couple?

Uh, I like couples that can be supported by the canon material as at least being mutually fond of each other. I have read some things where it's sort of a "what if these characters, who never met, met and fell in love" and seen it work. But I tend to go for things that are a bit more obvious: Methos/Joe, Jim/Blair, Kyouichi/Wakaba... It depends on the fandom soemtimes. For example, with Yu Yu Hakusho, I adore the canon couples. Yuusuke/Keiko rocks my world, and Kuwabara/Yukina is sweetness... but I'll read other stuff, sometimes, too.

4) When you read fan fiction, are you the type who will stay up all night and give up sleep to finish something that has you really hooked, or do you prefer to take your time and read it when you're awake?

Yes.

5) Are you the type of reader who will stop reading a fan fic if you don't enjoy it, or will you keep reading in the hopes of it getting better (or at least to see how bad it can get)? Is there anything that will turn you right off in a story if it appears (a squick, a pairing, chapters that are only 100 words long)?

It depends. If something is well-written but the plot is going someplace odd... well, recently I read a fic where I had no idea where it was going, but it was so well-written I stuck through. And yet more recently I was closing window after window of fic because the first paragraph or two just pushed the wrong buttons. If the spelling and grammar and execution are terrible, you can guarantee I won't read it. Otherwise, if it's doing something very wrong with the characters, I'll be turned off the fic. I'm pretty picky, actually.

I don't read rape-fic, death-fic, angst, and certain types of AU. It's been ages since I was willing to read hooker-fic or most varieties of hospital-fic, for example. I won't read self-mutilation. Basically, if it's a stereotype of the pit of voles, I don't read it. I avoid BDSM and a lot of kinks, actually.

I'm wary of first-person pov, but I've read some good fic that were written that way. I avoid the hell out of second-person pov because seriously, what the hell? Is this a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure fic? I've seen that work once.

I'm very, very picky about what kinds of OCs I'm willing to read...

6) Is there a fandom, pairing, or type of fic that you insisted to yourself you'd never read or write, only to prove yourself wrong? (If you're willing to share, what was it and what changed your mind?)

Er, yes, probably. Nothing specific jumps to mind, but I have a vague feeling that I've done so.

7) OTPs - do you have any and if so, how do you define "OTP"?

I suppose I do. When I first hit upon the acronym, I thought "OTP" stood for "oh, the precious!", actually. *chuckle* There are series where there's a pairing I just can't imagine the world without, and sometimes in the same series there are pairings I can still imagine that aren't as concrete.

Example: King of Fighters/Fatal Fury. I adore Terry Bogard/Mary Ryan. I can still see Terry/Joe. I can see Terry/Joe AND Terry/Mary at the same time and figure that explains some of the tension between Joe and Mary. Tada! While Terry/Mary is an OTP... the nature of the characters does not lead me to having a particular problem with this.

On the other hand: in Saint Seiya I firmly believe Milo/Camus is the only couple you can look at the canon and go "yes, that's definitely there" for. As I see it, Milo is incredibly devoted and adores Camus utterly. He has eyes for no one else. If Camus ever cheated on him, Milo would immediately kill Camus, Camus' lover, and then quite possibly himself. Because Milo is an insane assassin. But they are still cute.

8) Do you find that all your favorite characters tend to be the same type of personality? Are there any favorites who are exceptions?

Not really. I think I have a wide array of personality and character types I like, actually. And I enjoy it when a character breaks out of the usual expectations, because it makes the character unique.

9) Be honest. How many crossover fics have you read and how many fandoms were involved?

I never counted. A hell of a lot. I think the most wide-ranging cross-over I ever read was the Insanity fic and it must have hit about 20 fandoms or more last I checked; I don't know if it was ever finished.

I write them, too. What's wrong with crossovers? As long as they make sense, it's golden.

10) Last one! What's your fandom guilty pleasure?

Uh. Porn.

And in our hands, Milo and Camus shall take over the earth. Or something *snickers*

I am amused by the fact that after years of trying to remind you that slash does not immediately equal Teh Evil, I myself I'm utterly irritated and appalled by the quality (and deluge) of the slash out there these days. Maybe you were on to something *snorts*

Milo and Camus wouldn't take over the earth ebcause it would give their dads flashbacks. They're considerate sons like that.

And also, about slash -- I'm actually finding some good stuff. And some terrible stuff, of course. And the nature of the slash community at large still boggles me at times...

This is true, even if it is straying from actual continuity. I don't care XD

Most of the fandoms I would bother looking for slash for ... eiigh.

That, and slash seems less likely to provoke the mildly-curious reaction anymore. It's not as if I have much other interest in it *snorts*
