I'm rewatching some DS9

You know, Benjamin Sisko's hate-on for Vulcans (because of a jerk he went to school with) could potentially put an interesting spin on writing a story set before the Battle of Wolf 359 (versus the Borg, including Locutus) given that he served as first officer on the Saratoga under a Vulcan captain.

Since said Vulcan camptain was played by the same actor as played Martok, I am inclined to think he was a badass. Because badassery just sorta HAPPENS in cases like that. Regardless, there's the Tactical officer (skinny Bolian Lieutenant) who clearly knew Ben well, and Jennifer's friend, Dorin, etc. I would read the HELL out of some good stories set then.
