Yoroiden Samurai Troopers

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
Oh, God. Um. I think it was probably teriyakibroth. It was her or fallenangelamy, but a small horde of us got together to watch Ronin Warriors (which is the name of the English dub) on TV, and that's where it began for me.

02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
Oh, I'm staying. I have already, more than once, thrown my hands in the air and said "I give up!", but I always come back. No matter how nonsensical the show can be, and no matter how completely batshit the fans frequently are, the characters are just too charming to stay away for long.

03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
I like the first season better than the second one! Despite the sudden improvement in art. And my fave OAV is Gaiden.

04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
I don't believe I've posted more than one fanfic, ever, for YST, but I've drawn numerous fanarts and even let a couple loose onto my dA account, and I discuss it ALL THE TIME with a particular person. I used to roleplay it quite a bit, too.

05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
*waggles hand off-level* It's hard to say. There's a lot of strange, inaccurate, soul-killing fanon out there -- but then there's also a lot of really cute stuff. There's never going to be more of the core material, so that's what most people will encounter. The series is out on DVD here in North America, and was easy to pick up as it came out, but I'm not sure about now. ooh! And an awesome 20th anniversary deluxe figure of Ryo has already been pre-ordered for this household~ I hope they make more!


Starsky & Hutch

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
*clears throat* Okay, so there was this porn site I used to frequent when I was underaged. Obviously I couldn't sign up to look at the pictures, but that was okay, because there was a huge archive of dirty jokes, filthy songs, and sexy stories.

And one of those stories was about Starsky and Hutch.

And it was awful.

I mean, I couln't tell which was which! It was very poorly written. One of the guys had a mustache, but it didn't help in identifying him, because about halfway through, the mustache mysterious transported to the other guy. And the sex was laughable, in a sad way.

I was so confused that I set about trying to figure out what the hell was up. (If only wikipedia had existed at the time.) And then the show came into reruns when I was in college! (But still underage.) And I got into it.

02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
In the fannish community, maybe not so much? I still love the boys, and I've been thinking of picking up more of the DVDs, but... well, see the answer to question 4.

03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
I hate the movie. It is a travesty. As for episodes, I can't think of one I didn't love.

04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
I'm not actually active in the fandom community at present: I don't read or write fic, I don't do fanart, I haven't watched a vid or participated in a discussion in ages...

05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
Yeah! The material is out there, and it is so much better than most people probably realise. It's a wonderful show.


King of Fighters

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
teriyakibroth. Or possibly fallenangelamy, but I'm pretty sure it was teriyakibroth. SOMEONE BROUGHT THE FATAL FURY OAVS TO MY HOUSE.

02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
I will be here FOREVERRRRR, rolling around in all the delicious plot and characterization~

03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
You know not what you ask. THERE IS SO MUCH SHINY~!!!

04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
Yes yes yes! Mostly in the form of discussion and freeform roleplay, and, of course, playing the games again and again. There has been fic. There has been fanart I will never show anyone, ever. I stalk it all over the internet (the Russian fansites have some of the best art of the New Faces Team, FYI) and get the games when they come out and watch most of the animated specials, etc. etc. My favourite site for fans getting together to squee got taken over by evil monkeys a while back, alas.

05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?
YES YES YES! The games are wonderful and have a number of (usually fairly cracked) plots woven throughout, and the gameplay is WAY. EASIER. Than any Street Fighter I have ever played. The games that feed into KoF are also entertaining but HARD AS FUCK, and all the non-game stuff out there is enjoyable. *three thumbs up!*
