Watched RED. Enjoyed it; nice light psychotic paranoid action flick. I was expecting Karl Urban to have a smaller role, so that was a nice surprise.
It did get me thinking about the CIA, fannishly.
NCIS + CIA = not a happy combo for Gibbs' team, I'm guessing. I bet Gibbs and Fornell gang up on 'em, when they can.
SGA + CIA = plotbunnies for Rodney, who, after all, worked for the CIA as a teenager/before the USAF. (I kind of suspect Vegas!Rodney still does?) I have a vague idea kernal for something about Rodney recognising that someone is a CIA agent, either from just how they behave, or from actually having done some analyst work for them when he was in. I doubt the field agents always know who did their background work, after all. And then, of course, there's the idea that Rodney was actually inserted into the SGC hierarchy by the CIA, possibly by Trust agents therein, and has been undercover THIS WHOLE TIME. (I think I may have read that?) This is mostly born of my enjoyment of both his ability to get Elizabeth to lie extravagantly, and the hot way he takes charge sometimes (like in Epiphany -- s'only think I like about that episode, really).
And of course, there are actually CIA characters in SotT. Well, there's one. She's a lovely old harridan, too. Not that SotT bears any resemblance to how the intelligence agencies and underworld communities of the real world actually work. ...Although I'd love to see Team Templar square off with Team Gibbs. In the field, I think they might have the advantage, but in if the NCISers have their HQ back-up i.e. Abby, Ducky, and Palmer, the tables turn. I can see Fornell taking bets on this...
Of course, maybe Ducky knows Ethan. Or maybe Team Gibbs (when Tony was in charge, to make it worse?) had to deal with Team Templar and Simon uttered one of his "poncy English bastard" slams -- which would bother Ducky less, depending, since he's Scottish... but remember, Tony's late mother was English. (How worse? If he was team leader, McGee and Ziva are way more like to get their backs up in his defense.) Hell, maybe Tony ran unto Jeremy at his rich uncle's funeral in England or something. Tall, dark-haired, cocky, ex-football player, kind-of-a-juvenile-asshole federal agent... just his type! XD
