TWO MEMES! 8D (twins, even!)

Lifted from [livejournal.com profile] poisonivory:

ONE. Give me a character, a series, or a pairing and in return I'll give you three reasons why I love that character, that series, or that pairing (unless of course I don't love that character, that series, or that pairing, in which case I guess we'll just sort of stare awkwardly at each other through the internet).

and, separately, lifted from [livejournal.com profile] taichara:

TWO. Give me a character/characters/relationship I've written/fangirled about, and I'll give you a bit of my personal headcanon for them.

You'll have to say if you want it to be about a pairing or two (or whatever) characters if you've asked for more than one, and feel free to make multiple requests.

Let me know which you want me to answer by the numbers!

Boostle for both, please!

#1: Elizabeth Weir
#2: Julian Lodge

#1. A) It's pretty clear, if you start with Elizabeth in the SG-1 episodes where she was a blonde, that at least part of the reason she was assigned to the SGC was to get her out of the way. I wouldn't have blamed her for being bitter over that, but she doesn't let it get in the way of doing her best for the people put under her leadership, at the SGC and then in Atlantis. I really admire that willingness to take on her duties with a will.

B) She really is the mom. I mean, John and Rodney can both be extraordinarily childish, and I love her relationship with them, where she has to ride herd on them and yet is so terribly fond of them.

C) Her willingness to sacrifice herself for the good of the people she's responsible for makes me cry. My heart was in my mouth when she was negotiating with the Genii on their terms, I was choked up when she made them leave her with the Replicators, and when she knowingly walked through the gate into vacuum to lead the Replicators away, I bawled like a little baby. Self-sacrifice for the greater good is one of those things that just gets me, and I cna't think of a female character that does it with as much dignity and strength as Elizabeth.

#2. Okay, but you only get a bit. ;3 After she's left the Supreme Court to work as a lawyer, Julian stays in touch with Ellie. Mostly this is in the form of email and phonecalls that infuriate her, pointing out cases that get her blood boiling. Gradually Ellie comes to realise that Julian is basically bringing to her attention things that she would have wanted to know about and challenge. She gets a reputation as one hell of a fire-eater, a real legal 'warrior for justice', and grudgingly admits to herself that Julian helped that rep along.

She's nothing but exasperated when he sends her the original Wonder Woman TV series on DVD for her birthday, though.

Hm. That... was a little more Ellie-centric than I intended. X3 If you want more Julian, let me know.

1C: That is my favourite Elizabeth quality as well.

I *always* want more Julian. ;) But that will do, thanks. I like that he's her being her annoying muse.

It's sometimes amazing to me that the thing I associate with a woman who looks like I could break her over my knee is "strength", but that's what 1A and especially 1C boil down to, for me. She made some choices I didn't entirely support, but in the end, Elizabeth is awesome.

I like that he's her being her annoying muse.

And when she figures it out, she is yet more annoyed by the realisation, which I would guess he considers a bit of a triumph. ;3
taichara: (kazuki and soushi)

One: I don't think I can point to three things I love, when really I love EVERYTHING. No, seriously -- even the people I hate and the things that hurt like hell are part of the whole that makes it such a wonderful fucking story.

Two: It's a frustratingly vague line between "head canon" and "things that were in the canon, but never explicitly stated", so these might not actually count but here goes anyway!

At the beginning of the series, Kazuki didn't think Soushi would come back. Nobody else seemed to. And even though, over the course of the story, he found out why that was AND others who'd left did return, it's the fact that Soushi came back the first time that makes Kazuki so sure he'll do it again. He's facing Kazuki-knows-not-what, like before, and he'll come back.

Maya really does love them both, and love them together, for all the reasons we do -- but also because, smart as they are, they're also both kind of idiots, and she can see they need her help.

1: Wufei. :3

I'm half-hoping someone will mistake their choice so that I can do something funny with that. X3 And I will get back to about dear Wufei after I've slept and am thusly more articulate, and able to pare things down to three.

1. He's so arrogant! It makes me laugh. (Of course, he's got no reason to be nice to the other pilots. They're strangers.)

2. His arrogance covers some deep insecurities -- see the scene where he's shouting at hyenas about weakness. As this is about the closest the show comes to character depth, and damn it, it makes me want to know more!

3. Somehow he burns the hell out of shit and blows shit up and managed to mostly avoid fandom's "stereotypical pyromaniac in a mecha" stereotyping (see Dilandau, alas).
