Stargate AU fanfic: "Why Mary Is Not Allowed To Talk To Goa'uld" (feat. Jack & Daniel)

Uh. Technically this is from the same AU as Sunny Day In Metropolis.... (Damn it, I knew I shouldn't have done that meme until the year was over.) Jack and Daniel banter about Dr. Mary McKay. ^^;


Why Mary Is Not Allowed To Talk To Goa'uld


"What in the hell happened out there?!" General Jack O'Neill demanded, raising his voice to be heard over the wailing alarms and shouting people around him. The flow of people coming down the ramp from the 'gate was pushing the medical response team back into the hallway. Another bolt of energy shot out of the event horizon; screams of pain resounded where it struck. Directly in front of him, Dr. Daniel Jackson took a few deep gulps of air before responding, winded from carrying Dr. McKay through the 'gate at a dead run.

"It was Ba'al," he managed to gasp.

"Yeah? And?" Jack made a 'hurry it up' motion. "Isn't Ba'al who you were supposed to meet?"

As the 'gate finally winked out, a doctor and two medtechs pushed through to them and relieved Daniel of his teammate, placing her on a stretcher and carting her off. Daniel started to sag with relief, and Jack pulled him over to a wall, out of the way.

"She --" The anthropologist held up a finger for a pause, turned his head and spat out a bug. Jack pulled a face.

"Eyuch!"

"Yeah. Sorry. Mary, uhhh pissed him off."

Jack gestured at the damage and wounded people around them with an air that this, at least, was obvious. "How?"

"Well, she said, uh, she said, 'I am honoured to be identified as such by an acknowledged master'."

Jack stared at him blankly while Daniel rooted around in his mouth with a finger, searching for any remaining pieces of bug.

"So? That sounds like the froofy BS Ba'al usually likes to hear!"

"Yeah, but it was in response to Ba'al calling her a bitch," Daniel revealed, wincing.

Jack twitched straight. After a moment he managed to say, "I'll have to remember that one."

"Jack," Daniel sighed, rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah." Jack waved him silent. "So. We need a new plan."

"Well, I had an idea--"

Notice that the solution to this is to prevent her from talking to Goa'uld gain, not to train her to be better with them. X3 Eventually people accept the inevitable.

Man, someday I will write the story that spawned all this backstory in the first place!

Well, it depends. It covers some of the same ground as the original fic-idea did... and it would depend also on how Teyla took to this Sam (which would probably be pretty well, all things considered). I also have to figure out what to do with this John Sheppard.
