I set up our new Christmas tree, and then went to the kitchen to start dinner. When I wanted back to the living room a few moments later, I could see the little tree framed against the window, and outside it had begun to snow. Big, fat flakes floating down in the streetlights, speckling the highway and swirling under the bridge.
