Mars as Sheppard

I remember the first time I heard someone mention "Cliff Notes" on an American television programme. (I believe it was the episode of The Cosby Show where Theo is attempting to learn MacBeth.) I turned to my mother and asked of her,

"Mom, what's 'Cliff Notes'?"

And lo! she spake unto me thusly:

"It's the American version of Coles Notes, honey."

And I was appeased.

Coles Notes: (n) What Elys wish could cover all the pertinent points the prof will ask about anything written by Dickens so she doesn't have to read the goddamned books. >_
