My head-canon firmly believes that Jim watches Star Trek, and may or may not consider himself a (closet) Trekkie. But, y'know, with TNG -- because of Data. Because he knows that feel, bro.
And they both wish their brothers weren't insufferable assholes.
Well, my logic there is that he came back from the dead just as TNG was one of the best things on TV, and ended up watching it during those late nights when everyone else was asleep, or he was stuck doing overnight guard duty at Oracle, and just... clung to it. Like a baby monkey. Because it's all about family and damnit he misses the rest of the Invaders. But Namor and Steve are busy off doing other things, and so he just sits there and... not mopes, really, but is sad and full of *sigh.*
I'm sure there's at least one story to be told about Jim attending a Trek con and completely unnerving whatever poor cast member gets him in their autograph line.
Most of the younger characters on DS9 would have made him go ;~; just because of the father/son dynamics that tended to follow. Ditto for Picard and Data on TNG, though in a different way.
Oh dear lord. Yes. Yes, he would totally go up to Spiner and be a fanboy and be all, "You know, you're the only human I've ever met who got it right." And then there would be utter confusion and hilarity. Well. Hilarity for the reader, anyway.
And then badguys would attack the con! And Jim would sve everyone as the Torch... but his autographed picture would be burned up. ;_;
Fortunately, Patrick Stewart is totally boss and would firmly insist that he get a personally autographed photo of each actor present, and -- who is your favourite character? Data? -- excellent, Brent, take a picture with this fine gentlemen. There you are sir. Thank you very much for saving all our lives. *handshake*
