I bought the "Grammy 2006 Nominees" CD.

What follows is a track-by-track commentary.

1. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. S'alright. The laugh startled the hell out of me; I had my volume up too high. ^^;

2. Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams The reason I bought this album! Because I used to have this song, and somewhere along the way I lost it, and then this week my supervisor was talking about it, so I got to wanting it back.

3. Mariah Carey - It's Like That So... Mariah does not actually remember how to sing anymore. Gotcha.

4. Paul McCartney - Fine Line The reason I almost didn't by this album, and an automatic skip. Can't stand the guy.

5. U2 - City of Blinding Lights Bland. Damn it, guys, you used to be so awesome!

6. Rascal Flatts - Bless the Broken Road Eh. *wobbles hand back and forth* Nothing special.

7. Bruce Springsteen - Devils & Dust I will be very disappointed if this song has never taken the Supernatural fandom by storm, because I don't even watch the show and even I could see the possibilities. Meanwhile, this will slot neatly on my iPod in with Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. Thumbs up.

8. John Legend - Ordinary People I've been really into piano + 1 vocalist songs for a while, and this speaks well to that, although the lyric aren't particularly imaginative.

9. Jack Johnson - Sitting, Waiting, Wishing Heard this on the radio a bit. Makes my head bob along. :3

10. Seal - Walk On By Eh. I may listen to this again. Someday.

11. Rob Thomas - Lonely No More Another one I've heard on the radio. Dance-able; I might add it to one of my 'upbeat bopping around' playlists.

12. Stevie Wonder - From the Bottom of My Heart Is it me, or is his voice mellowing a lot with age? In a good way? This song is sweet, smooth, and heartfelt like many of his songs. Thumbs up.

13. Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone I confess, the first several times I heard this song, I thought it was Avril Lavigne. (I think that says a lot about the sound system at work.) Misapprehensions aside, this is going on my iPod first thing. Girl's got pipes!

14. Sheryl Crow - Good Is Good I need more Sheryl Crow in my life. Pretty sure I'd never heard this before, but I like it.

15. Coldplay - Speed of Sound I've been singing along with this since the third time I heard it. Nice to finally have a copy.

16. Foo Fighters - Best of You Huh. Not what I expected. Probably not going to listen to this one a lot, but it's not actually bad -- I get the feeling it'd be a lot better live, though.

17. The Rolling Stones - Rain Fall Down [Radio Edit] *scratches head* Kinda strangely derivative of non-rock styles, but still distinctly the Stones. Didn't hate it, but honestly, eating eggs and watching the telly is not the riveting storytelling they seem to think it is.

18. Neil Young - The Painter Okay, the thing about Neil Young is that while I like his music, he always reminds me of some weird mishmash of Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, and Fred Penner. Odd, folksy, and strangely soothing. Not an everyday song.

19. Beck - E-Pro Discordant guitar. Liked the line, "talking trash to the garbage around you." Probably listen to this when I'm in an almost Brutal Planet mood.

20. Death Cab for Cutie - Soul Meets Body Another one going right on my iPod, although the bridge made me want to listen to Men At Work. O.o

21. Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To If The Kinks did a cover of one of George Michael's raunchier songs, it might sound kinda like this. Fun, gay, and retro-bouncy; I'll have to be in a particular kinda of mood for this. Pretty much like most of their songs, that way.
